Click on the brand, the model and when you get to the set of pics, you can refresh the screen to get a different set of pics until you see the type of photos you\'re interested in like portraits, landscape, sports....etc

Then click on the picture to see more of the same example.

I don\'t know if any of you are around point and shoot cameras a lot, but I\'ll ask anyway.  What do you guys think of the SD1000?

For a point and shoot camera with an ISO setting from 80 to as high as 1600, I\'m impressed. ISO 80, you\'ll need a steady hand or tripod for those indoor shots where you want to use natural lighting. My XTi goes as low as 100 only but I\'ve got a great lens to compensate. This camera also has an auto ISO setting, that\'s convienient when you just want to shoot and shoot without fiddling with the settings.

The camera\'s lens already is in zoom out mode. When you "zoom in", you\'re really just going by the human eye sight depth. But that\'s useful for group photos. My fixed lens has me backing up 30 feet to get a group photo. Luckily, I still have my old Olympus point and shoot digital for shots like that.

Get it.

The main thing I don\'t like about the SD series is that they offer ONLY a full auto exposure mode.  (Called "Program AE")  There is no semi-auto or full manual mode on the SD series.

I think that\'s OK if you have a backup camera to use for situations where you have to do some shutter or aperture adjustments.  However, I would never own an SD as my only digital camera.  Much too limiting.

Yeah, but if he has no intention of going beyond the party shots or wide tourist shots, then he won\'t out grow the camera.

But if he intends to do even some form of novice photography, he\'ll have to go SLR.

Yea, I just want something simple for hanging out with friends and such.  I just had heard rumblings that it wasn\'t as good as the SD600 and everywhere I go it\'s not able to power up.  I figure for 225$ it\'s not a bad camera though.

Even in "party shots" I find myself adjusting aperture to create an appropriate depth of field. Also, I love to use available light whenever possible. You usually need to force the camera to do that by opening the aperture and lowering the shutter speed.

But that\'s just me.

Boz, did you check this out?

Try looking at Pentax. They make some nice point and shooters too.

Here are some night shots at 200 ISO and no blur:

I just switched to Sony.. Had a old Canon DC but I wanted to try something new, maybe a systemcamera? So I snooped around, and found that the DSLR-Alpha 100 was perfect for me, built in Super Steady Shot etc. Very nice camera, impressed the hell out of me. Use a 2GB MemoryStick Pro Duo so i can take about 480 pics in JPEG format.

Thinking of getting one of those Carl Zeiss lenses, but they cost about 14000 SEK or 2100 USD. :running:

Here are some pics I took.

18-70 mm lens. 18mm bends the image quite a bit.

Quite boring, I dont have so many stored on this computer.

Fastson, I like those pics you took of the gun.

I\'m getting a new digital camera within the next couple weeks. I\'m deciding between the Canon SD900 and SD1000. They both seem really good but I like the SD900 the best. It has good reviews and looks sexy like samwise when he goes tanning :gfight:
