i think we already know where i stand when it comes to sharpton,....he loves to grandstand when it comes to white/black issues period....but he is also the only person that will say something when a racial incident goes down from the black community whether it\'s legitimate or not...still he\'s not a major reason racism exists today....white folk are still the major reason racism exists today, like i\'ve always stated the 60\'s were not that long ago, hell all of those racial incidents that occurred by the nyc police under guiliani\'s watch wasn\'t that long ago at all....there\'s still incidents of afri. americans bein\' pulled over just for the color of their skin....yes i do believe that afri. americans can be racists as well, but history tells me that for the most part white folk are one of the "fat" reasons why racism exist....

I think the perception that white people are racist is because they are the majority. I bet if hispanics were the majority, the same would be said about them. We can say that they can be racist against whites or blacks. Its all perception. If blacks were hte majority, white folks can say that blacks are racist. Are they really? Possibly some but probably not the majority. When it comes to race, there is always this in-group, out-group feeling and we tend to hold prejudices against out-groups. Its human nature and doesn\'t mean we\'re racist. I try to look at race as that we are all different by the color of our skin and different races have their own culture. However, we are still one species so we must also work together, especially in our integrated society. But I also think that as a species, we need to be comfortable enough with those differences to be able to joke about them and not be so hung up just because a white person beats up a black person or visa versa and always turn it into a race issue when it probably isn\'t (unless its obvious a hate crime).

If I beat up clips, I bet Sharpton would turn it into a race issue. But in reality, it could have just been because he said something that pissed me off (even though I would never beat up my favorite nappy headed ho ). But if its the other way around, no one would say anything.

How are they far from color blind? The people themselves acquire prejudices and horrid ideas from their parents, society, etc...

If we all grew up together without anyone telling us anything bad about anyone else, these stupid ideas wouldn\'t spread like wildfire. Of course, human beings have a natural tendency to "group" themselves together with "similar" people, as is discussed in Sociology, but I don\'t think kids themselves are inherently part of this ignorance, at least not at first. I still think parents/society are more to blame in the way that people interact with one another, and this effects children slowly over time. Children are innocent. Their environment does play a big part in how these kids\' minds are shaped. I\'m not sure where genetics comes into play, but if we were all taught as children and throughout life that everyone is equal and to love one another, despite our differences, the world would be a different place. This is certainly not the case. Tolerating others despites their beliefs is something everyone should do. Wars being fought over religion and other ridiculous things are not examples of tolerance. There is so much ignorance on this planet that it is scary. Then there are those people who end up being serial killers despite growing up in a nice family.

I still think most kids are innocent until they are shaped otherwise by the ideas pressed upon them by their parents, family, friends, society, school, media, etc...

I\'m not a racist because I grew up with mixed races. Some of my closest friends were Asian and Hindu. Best part about having friends of other races is the fact that we were comfortable about joking to each other about being white, asian or hindu. We even had a French friend we joked around a lot with.
