Well they are doing brilliantly but i find it completely stupid that they describe Wii\'s success as the better console. Wii doesnt offer anything better of what MS and Sony offer and there is almost nothing comparable between Wii and the other two except from the fact that they play games.
Wii is an awesome result of a diversified product and great marketing. It doesnt do anything better. It offers something the others dont at a cheap price. Thats what makes Wii a huge success
Honestly I cant imagine myself with just a Wii.
If I could rate each product how well designed it is and its offerings (including all functions) I d rate the PS3 first the 360 second and the Wii last.
But for cheapness in price and unique experience I d rate Wii first
Today I went with a friend to store so he would get a PS3 and me and the employee at the store made a run through all the functions of the console to inform him. That included the firmware 1.8 update. All these at a 1080p 42\'\' through HDMI
Things that we checked were:
Games: VF5 and COD3. VF5 simply looked jaw dropping at 1080p.
Folding
BR movies (for the first time as well as my friend we saw a BR movie running in real HD glory. I was unexpectedly amazed by the visual quality)
Linux Ubuntu on PS3
DVD, PS2 and PS1 scaling
Networking with other devices
Playstation Store
HDD change
plus more
We were going to check Resistence and Motorstorm too but there are continuously sold out and out of stock.
We left the store with his brand new PS3 and my friend told me that he had no idea of all the things PS3 could do and how great its games were. And although it originally seemed expensive to him, now he feels that he got too much for too little money. If he knew PS3 in detail from before he would have bought it before.
I ve met many people who have no idea of the PS3\'s games what it does as a full product. They dont know about the firmware, they dont know about playstation store, they dont know of online play. They only see a black box costing $600 that plays games.
But thats Sony\'s fault because they failed miserably to inform the consumer. Even the manual lacks the appropriate information.
