Have any of you guys fallen for a scam

I am asking because i did, and today it returned to bite me in the ass. If you recall the nigerian money scam from a few years ago.  This beautiful woman claims her dad was a high ranking something or other wanting to use your bank account. Giving you access to millions of dollars if you send a little money. Well i sent $ 1000, and friday i recieved 6 money orders totalling $ 6,000. When i tried to cash a couple they were red flagged, bringing the police to my doorstep today. I feel like such a idiot.

Working for a gold broker, I get dozens of emails a week offering me 2 metric tons of gold from Africa, and I only have to pay $200 an ounce for it! WOW! With gold @ $650, I stand to get rich! Seriously guy, I feel for ya, but you deserve to get taken if you send anyone in Nigeria money.

 Jesus what a coincidence! A friend of mine came yesterday at my house with a letter he unexpectedly got from a supposed high ranked foreign businessman from Africa. It said that he supposedly inherited a huge sum of money and he is asking to give him his account or something to pass the money too. I dont remember the exact details of the letter, but it was another scum to pull money out of your bank

The letter is totally formally written, with all kinds of certificates, signs, stamps etc. It was 100% professional and easy to fool someone that it is real. Its scary how they got all the information from my friend because they were referring directly to HIM!

Dateline NBC runs a program called "To Catch an Identity Thief" just like their "To Catch a Predator".  Chris Hansen actually went to Nigeria to track this chick named "Wendy" down and ended up in Switzerland meeting this guy who claimed to be her lawyer - I think he called himself "Barrister Mike" or something like that.  

No offense Fred, but this is why stuff like this happens - Americans are gullible in general and criminals across the globe know this.

I\'d normally think its a joke because noone is dumb enough to send some anonymous person 1,000 bucks and expect millions in return...but fred has had some dumb ass posts in the past so who knows.

maybe the whole thing\'s an act..luckily only like 3 er 4 people really respond to his sickness stories

while this may be true, and if he\'s the type that\'s looking for some type of sympathetic attention, especially if it\'s an act, then he\'s wrong and pitiful... but he\'s been so specific with his descriptions of his illness and everyday therapy that i don\'t think it\'s an act....

it doesn\'t matter either way to me but i think that if he\'s not bulls**ting with his condition, then we need to show a little bit more compassion,..*i thought what politiepet posted was a bit harsh*....there are millions of people livin\' with a handicapped or disabled condition that we ourselves take for granted and should be thankful that we are fully functional...

heh i saw that episode...they just had some random pic of a hotty that they used *probably some random pic they got off the internet*...they caught that guy in so many lies it wasn\'t even funny...it\'s a shame they weren\'t able to let the local authorities arrest him like in "to catch a predator"...i was shocked that they had to let him go....

I wasn\'t baggin\' on him...and I agree some of those posts were harsh. I was just shocked that with all the press, and even discussions around here, that he could be taken. He must have smelled pussy, that\'s the only explanation.

i was more referring to the constant "i have a headache" posts. especially since most of the time theyre in threads that have nothing to do with it. Not so much the handicap thing for the same reasons you said
