Hey thats an awesome sport. I dont get how you "steal" away the ball  from your opponent since its in some kind of a net though. Do you have to hit the other person\'s stick with yours to make it fall from his?

You hit them. Its an extremely rough sport. In high school, I had a lot of fun. I play on a club team in college and I\'m glad I do over intercollegiate (since my school doesn\'t offer it). The league I play in at school is extremely rough. People get drugged up and drunk and go on the field and play (some schools. My school just goes hung over and maybe a couple teammates drunk). This year there wasn\'t a game I haven\'t been hurt in some way or another. One game my friends with benefits came and I got so fucked up I collapsed when I got off the field. I got checked so hard, my knee got all messed up for a while. Other games I got checked so hard in the head, I didn\'t even know which side of the field I was on. Its a very rough sport but it is the most fun I ever have.

Also, there is a huge rivalry between baseball players and lacrosse players. Its because they are during the same season and complete opposite. Baseball is very tame compared to lacrosse and lacrosse players and baseball players constantly taunt each other. I remember so many times in high school that we would yell at our own baseball team going down to the field. We would yell out "pussies" and "play a real sport you fags". Not to mention yelling at other teams when they come to our school or go to another school. There is also a lot of shit talking about baseball behind their backs too. Just the nature of the two sports I guess.

It has come a long way since native americans played it. Natives played it to prove themselves as men. Its the same way today in a way too. My coach always used to say that. I\'ve proved myself last season. I lost a lot of strength by not lifting and shit since I played in high school. I was a little bitch basically at the beginning of the season. But during the season I got back in the gym, worked my ass off on and off the field on my skills. I took hits and would get right back up (something a lot of my teammates couldn\'t do, lol). I toughened up a lot and improved immensely and gained the respect of a lot of my teammates. The sociology of lacrosse is very interesting. I really do love this sport.

yep.  I played lax in highschool - best sport other than hockey imo.

Cant think of anything right now. Well probably there is one, and it is if it the sport is expanding in other countries too in an effort to increase its popularity because I d be interested to see for real or even try it out of curiosity. But I kind of doubt it

Lacrosse is big in Canada and even has a team in Australia which competes Internationally. Its not big at all in Europe. My best friend had an exchange student from Spain last year and I told her I played lacrosse and she didn\'t even know what it was.

EDIT: Here\'s the wiki article on it. There\'s a section about international lacrosse in it. States in the article there are devoted communities in other countries but the US pretty much dominates. The rules and shit are in there too for both field and box lacrosse. They are entirely different. I\'ve played  both traditional field lacrosse and box/indoor lacrosse. Box/indoor is a lot of fun. I didn\'t play on a hockey rink but indoor soccer field. Its also more violent. I remember my high school and our rival got into an all out brawl. Fists and shit were flying. I think it was my favorite moment in lacrosse ever. Just seeing two teams who absolutely hated each other going at it was absolutely classic. Box is popular in canada probably because they are overrun with hockey rinks.

I don\'t know what the commercials for the bandits are like there in Buffalo but here in Canada when ever they advertise them on TV they always treat them like monster trucks

Its a shame NJ doesn\'t have an NLL team anymore. We used to have the Storm but they moved to Anaheim then dissolved. Shame. The Storm were around since the beginning of the NLL. Only original team left is the Wings, which is the team I root for now. NJ has an MLL team called The Pride. They are very good. They won the last few years I think.

this cat from my previous job used to play lacrosse alot and he ended up twistin\' his ankle pretty bad during one session, and he was out of work for months...as soon as he healed up he was right back at it,...it\'s not my thing, but i can see that you could get a good work-out playin\' it....

There was a kid on my team who broke his leg and still played. He complained of leg pains. The trainer told him to put an icepack on it. Two weeks later, he still complained of pain, went to the doctor and found out his leg was broken. It wasn\'t a bad break. It was probably more or less a fracture but he said it was broken.
