All this talk about bands...Who is your favorite of all time

Ehm.. actually thinking about this some more... for me it\'s not about \'bands\'.

I have alot of admiration for DJ Q Bert. I think he\'s great because his scratches & cuts never sound random.

Hard to say, if I had to list a few, I\'d say:

Ween
Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds (and The Birthday Party)
Frank Zappa (and the Mothers of Invention)
The Rolling Stones
The Kinks
Brian Eno
Radiohead
Captain Beefheart
The Who

As far as sheer song craftsmanship and quality number of albums/songs, I\'d probably leen towards either The Beatles or Ween. Though, my single favourite CD purchase of all time would belong to Talking Heads with The Name of this Band is Talking Heads live double CD.

bobbo, you ever check out Super furry animals? "rings around the world" is an awesome album, and they have traits of most of the bands you mentioned...

I\'ve listened to Super Furry Animals. Though, I have trouble really enjoying them. It\'s not that I dislike them, it\'s just.. perhaps I\'m just a bit elitist when it comes to these things. The whole Pet Sounds meets OK Computer thing has been done better by other bands. Most notably The Flaming Lips with The Soft Bulletin.

Also, I find that the music wreaks of trying to be artsy, and intriguing, as opposed to just being intruiguing. Oh, and the vocal melodies are a bit weak as compared to other pop giants.

Having said that, I probably prefer Fuzzy Logic over Rings Around the World

you know what\'s funny? I felt the same way about SFA at first, thinking they were being weird for weird\'s sake. Then I saw the DVD for "Rings" (they released the album and DVD of the album at the same time) and seeing the videos tturned it around for me.

The soft bulletin is amazing, and I like the flaming lips more in general, tho.
