Wooo Transformers
« on: July 04, 2007, 06:08:11 AM »
It was actually pretty damn good (well good as in entertaining). I\'m not a transformers fan in the least, hell I didn\'t even know that Octimus Prime was from Transformers (somewhere in the deep dark corners in the back of my mind I thought it was related somehow to MGS, but nevermind).

The cinematography was awesome as always with Michael Bay movies. Technically the movie is fantastic. The score was pretty good as well.

Megan Fox is just that... a fox. Hot damn.

I\'m having trouble figuring out what else to say. The action was sweet, but somehow I think Die Hard 4 was a bit better in the regard, even though it didn\'t feature giant robots fighting. Maybe it just has to sink in a bit. :D

The autobots were really well done, both rendering and animation.

So in conclusion - it\'s very entertaining, pretty funny and quite moving some times. And Megan Fox is hot. Very hot. So it\'s a thumbs up!

Only cool parts were when they slowed down the robot fights or actually zoomed out so you could see wtf was going.  The rest of the time they zoomed in on their knee caps and shook the camera around so all you saw was a big hunk of metal moving, feels like they took the easy way out to make it look somewhat realistic.

The silly dynamic between the boy and his folks when he tried to get the glasses w/ the autobots in the backyard was annoying the piss outta me.  Guess they were trying to make a non-funny situation funny.

And that\'s aboot it.  I still thought it was decent :)

OCTIMUS PRIME FTW!!!

It was incredibly stupid and even sometimes boring during the action sequences, which I didn\'t think would be possible.  OK, I don\'t expect the story to be brilliant, but at least it should be a little bit logical.  Throughout the first half of the film, this scorpion-like transformer is following the soldiers through the desert...  Why?  It\'s proven it can kill them at will, so why doesn\'t it?

I agree with what THX said about the visual effects shots.  It seemed they were moving the camera around excessively to conceal the poor quality of their animation.  I thought the transforming effect were weak.  When they transformed, it seemed that every square inch of the robot erupted with a panel folding, a strut shooting out, or some other tiny piece of hardware spinning around.  It would have been more effective if they had larger sections moving in a logical manner.  Of course that would have required the designers to figure out how one of these things would transform in the real world, and build an accurate model.  Too much work.  Just make everything explode and reassemble, and then we don\'t have to worry about it...

Come on... Of course they are, I don\'t understand why they just didn\'t model the damn bots after the cartoon ones. They could have spiced and glossed them up, but I kind of agree with core. I think they should have kept with the old school cartoon on it.

I agree for someone that doesn\'t follow or didn\'t watch it when they were younger it probably looks fanfuckingtastic. Same goes for comic book movies, for those that don\'t follow them or know little about them it is easier for them to get in to the movies than the comic book geeks who will watch the movie and sit there and disect every little parts of the movie to look for things that piss them off.

I was never a Transformers fan. Of the toys or the cartoons and I know what to expect from Michael Bay. I just want to see some robots bigger than my house kick the shit out of eachother while I scarf down milkduds and popcorn.

I think if I have time i\'ll have to check out Die Hard too after reading the reviews here at the site. After I watch 1, 2, and 3 of course. First one has something to do with glass? ;)

You definitely should check out the Die Hard series. Great fun.

And just to make things clear... Transformers isn\'t a masterpiece. The fact that Michael Bay made it should make that clear. :)

I guess it was because of my low expectations (and knowing I\'d be in for a Michael Bay Ride(tm)) that I found myself actually liking it. But make no mistake, it has its fair share of stupid moments - but for me, the cool robots made up for that. Your mileage may vary. :)

yeah, and on the other hand i have never found the Die Hard series all that great. Nice, but far from great. Slightly cheesy macho stuff. most of the time i really hate macho attitude.

Today I remembered something I liked about the Transformers movie.  John Turturro\'s performance as the wacky Sector Seven agent was entertaining.

Die Hard 4 was better.  In fact, I would recommend all the Die Hard films except the second one.  I think 3 might have been the best.

They could have taken a lesson from these guys:

As far as the movie is concerned i\'ll probably wait for dvd, but i too wish that they would have used the old models....
