i guess you have to look at the glass as it being half full instead of half empty? Tho i do have one question Luke and not to get too personal, but shouldn\'t you guys be enjoyin\' your newlywedingness? I think i\'d have a small issue if i just got married and then my wifey went off on some vacation, that\'s just me tho....i feel you tho on the part about life bein redundant, i\'ve gotten away from startin\' up a clothing line that i was workin\' on....i\'ve already got some designs sketched on a pad and i have my name registered...i just have to get my tax id and later on get my name incorporated...

With me havin\' a family it\'s kinda hard to get back to those things that i personally want to achieve, sometimes people say that you have to sacrifice your dreams for your family,... i really don\'t want to say that is true, but starting up a business or any business for that matter, especially the direction i want to go in, is going to take a lot of capital, but before i can even think about doin\' that, i gotta take care of my #1 priority which is my family...

But it\'s good to hear that you\'re(Luke) getting back to playin\' the guitar and doin\' things you like again....heh just because you\'re married doesn\'t mean your life is over, you just have to find a way to balance it..:)...now that i think about it, maybe the wifey goin\' on her little vay-k is a good thing as it\'s giving you some time to catch up on things you like to do...

For the most part, it is true. You must give up your dreams for a family, the exception being if you already accomplished your goals before a family.

Still, you must find your own time and do things you enjoy.

Well I was in a huge rut 3 years ago.  Hated my job.  Hated my boss.  Hated everything.  It blew nuts and I knew I could do so much more.  I quit my job and doubled my pay by working for myself.  The hardest gutsiest thing I could possibly do, but it worked.

But is my life any better?  More money, yes..  But damn do I ever work a lot.

I don\'t know a job that isn\'t repetitious.  That\'s what jobs are.
I wear a necklace now because I like to know when I\'m upside down.

i think i might\'ve mentioned this in another thread, but i\'m a computer operator,...it just involves monitoring and maintaining various computer systems and makin\' sure programs are runnin\' properly and if any bomb i have to fix them, but if the problem is a bit more complicated than i can handle, i have to call the programmer in question who created the program...

Well, "Luke", the thing is that is how life is. You\'re going on thirty and if by now, you haven\'t became rich and famous, most likely, you will spend the rest of your days doing mundane labor and just getting by. This isn\'t a bad thing, if you decide to look at it from a different perspective.

I use to hate my job, but then I applied myself to it and have since received a few promotions. Do I wish I was doing something different? Of course, but I realize that in reality, I don\'t have it that bad. This isn\'t to say you shouldn\'t look for another job, by all means, find a job you don\'t hate. I stuck with my job due to the pay and the fact I have a lot of time off to spend with my family and do my hobbies. I typically work three days a week, not counting my three weeks of vacation and other random time off.

Still, "Luke", I can understand what you are going through. I think every person does at one time or another. I still wake up sometimes and wonder how different my life could of been if I had made different choices. Then I look at what I do have and I remind myself to be thankful. You have a gorgeous wife, maybe you should do the same.

Well "Raz", thanks for the generic advice I could have gotten from anyone.

You\'re most welcome. It\'s generic, because it\'s true.

All the same, I refuse to accept that.

I don\'t need to just accept this as "the way things are".

Like I said, I\'m taking steps to make the things I dislike about my life disappear.

Above and beyond, baby.

It all takes baby steps man. I\'ve improved my life so much within the last year by taking it one step at a time. You have to fix one small aspect about your life to improve the big picture.

Be thankful for what you have and get rid of the mindset that the grass is greener on the other side.

Not to say that you don\'t need change, that is a positive step, but there is no reason you should be miserable and changing. You can enjoy your life, realize what could change and make those changes.

Have you heard about him wanting to break his contract with Oprah? I don\'t know what you think, "Luke", but I feel that would be ungrateful as she did make him the star he is today!!!11!!
