the one I got out of the box was red ring of death :( But the one I got it back works just fine now!!! Although I\'m scared it is going to happen to me sooner or later!!!

No problems, and still going strong since March 2006.
 
Possibly I don\'t give my gear as much of a workout as others do.  I definitely take precautions and make sure there\'s plenty of room for airflow around the case, and don\'t abuse the hardware at all.

Same here and it still died on me. The Xbox 360 hardware design is simply crap.

So true.  I had the same problem with Sony quality control the last few generations, but it appears they stepped it up this time around.  Guess someone had to drop the ball.

yup, happened to me once too. the things must have a terrible design flaw for it to happen so much. Heh, at least they\'ve given everybody a 3 year warranty, so they took mine back, no questions asked...

mine died but i didnt get the ring of death. The video just stopped playing. But i got a 360 manufactured on aug 15, 2007 in return, so it should have that heatsink that makes it survive. The ones that dont have it are doomed. It\'ll happen before the three year waranty is up so thats good i guess,lol.

I\'d still own a 360 before a ps3, knowing the technical problems. It was a pain in the ass to send it in, but that was mostly UPS\'s fault that it took longer than i would\'ve liked..but i got a free month of xbox live.

had one, messed up but not ring of death... just got worse and worse at reading discs... thye had it for less than a week

Mine\'s still good. I feel lucky. I think it\'s something outrageous like one in ten have been faulty due mainly to the heat. I try to allow extra air to mine if I\'m using it for more than just watching a movie or something.

I sold my Xbox360 before it could break down on me. lol :thumb:

But eh... during the time i did have it ; the console crashed twice ... i guess due overheating ( even though placed in a well ventilated spot ) and the game disc skipped on 3 occassions.

So, nothing really serious

Mine is still goin\' strong, but then again I only play it when a killer APP comes out. I wore it out with Guitar Hero 2, plan on doing the same for Guitar Hero 3 and Mass Effect. Right now I am busy playing The Witcher.
