no, somewhere you mixed up complexity with good quality games.

The best games are often the simplest i.e. tetris or a more recent example katamari damacy.

my opinion of the wii so far is this and yes i own one got it last year.

It is great fun, it really is, but i havent found many single player experiences that fun. Besides Zelda and Mario everything else is pretty group oriented games. which is great... when i have my friends over but when they arent just means i usually play something else on another system.

and honestly i have found few of really any the titles to be amazing altho you can definitely tell Nintendo knows how to make games with the controls better then most. i wish other companies would follow their lead with how they got Metroid working and etc.

really all i wanted wii for is zelda, mario and smash brothers so whatever lol

as far as casual gamers go - it doesnt surprise me that WII has taken off in the age of all these high priced competition - hell Wii has even been making profit off the console from launch or shortly after if i recall. I just hope we get something good from 3rd party devs but after reading lots of articles and browsing the DS library - i can see due to nintendos lack of quality control - there is a bunch of crap to weed thru before you find any

You\'re a damn idiot if you don\'t think Tetris is "stellar". Somehow, somewhere, people have gotten the idea that if a game is not extremely complex right off the bat, it can\'t be one of the greatest games ever.  When in fact, some of the supposed simpler games are the greatest.

No actually its you who are confused.

First of all you use the word "stellar" as if it is a synonim of quality.

Secondly you havent defined under what criteria you are basing the description of stellar

You also ASSUME too much. I implied NOTHING about complexity of games.

Farthermore you ignore the effect of time. Tetris was "stellar" in its time. But what was considered stellar before may not be considered stellar today. Today it is just like any other puzzle game found all over the internet unless it passes through major redesign. The only people that recognise its impact is people that experienced it at younger ages like us. And even people like us today may ignore pass it.

It also amazes me how you were annoyed by my tetris comment (which is totally irrelevant to the point of my post) but not for bejeweled which is also great.

Lastly you ignored that it is the combination of execution, depth and sometimes originality that makes a game of high quality regardless of compelxity, platform or genre.

[sarcasm]
Well perhaps if a company decides to port over all the simple and fun games found like bejewel and tetris in the internet over its console it would automatically solve the quality problem of its library[/sarcasm]

Tetris is still stellar, just like Mario Bro\'s and Sonic is. Time does not mean a game becomes less stellar, unless the game was flawed to begin with. A fundementally great game, will remain a great game.

P.S- YOu\'re still an idiot.

nice to see LIC play \'internet tough guy\' when he can\'t win a debate.

tetris was never "stellar".  more like "mind numbing".
if you ever played it for more than an hour at a stretch, you needed something else to do.

you can\'t group a puzzle game with a platformer.
next you\'ll be calling sudoku stellar because it\'s so popular.

And I\'ll call you an idiot also.
Tetris was and is stellar, it is stellar for the simple fact it has simple gameplay to attract people and at the same time, complex gameplay for those who want to master it.

You\'re the one who can\'t win a debate, simply because when you get backed into a corner, you pull some nonsense straight out of your ass, as usual.

Personally, I don\'t care. You\'re an idiot, Unicorn is an idiot and I think it\'s obvious to most people around here.

P.S - Take that back...Fuckin\' idiot, sounds better.

I think gamespot gave Tetris a 2 out of 10 for being repetitive. :p

*sigh*

So you\'re saying that the wii lacks game with great execution, depth, and originality?  The titles themselves may be done to death but nintendo always brings something new to the table and they are consisitantly high in production standards.  And to dismiss a game\'s quality because of its apparent lack of what you call depth, like I said before, often the simplest premise makes the most engaging games.

And to go back to tetris, because I love that game so much, is one of the greatest games ever made, it has spawned so many games and sold countless of millions of games.  Only the most jaded of gamers can not have fun playing that game (I\'m looking at mm\'s direction).  Hell I\'ve seen it converted so that even disabled kids who\'ve never played video games can enjoy it.  http://www.pitaru.com/tetris/ .  The reason why I glossed over bejewled is because, A) Its not a phenomenon like Tetris was, and B)Its not nearly as original or addicting as Tetris.

You may be sarcastic about the virtual console and Live arcade and whatever the PS3 equivalent is but do you realize how much revenue those places bring in?

come on LIC, don\'t quit now when you\'re down.
think of a valid point that you don\'t have to include an insult with and you\'ll have some credibility again.

phil, tetris is "fun" like doing crossword puzzles.
fun for a short time, but not "stellar".

tic-tac-toe is a simple game, and never really ends in a win unless somebody fucks up.

i\'ll certainly agree with the games that tetris spawned, like "tetrisphere" or "tetrisnet".   take an otherwise boring game and add a 3d environment or multiplayer?  now we\'re talking.
