you have to remember LCD pixel response time in reality is still slow.

if an lcd have a pixel response time of 16 ms for all colors, then that would be about 62.5 frames per second....that is just wishful thinking because i doubt any lcd can reach that speed for all color.

why bother with 120 Hz when lcd pixel response couldn\'t handle it in reality?

plasma on the other hand have a pixel response similiar of crt which is around 1 to 2 ms.... or 500 to 1,000 frames per second.

so, if plasma plan on supportting 120 Hz in the future, you can count that it will be the magic number for 24 fps, 30 fps, and 60 fps.  thanks to fast pixel response time.  you don\'t have to worry about motion blur and the sort.

because 24 x 5 = 120
and 30 x 4 = 120
and 60 x 2 = 120...

these 3 frames rate are all divisible of 120.

If someone is really nitpicky about picture quality, perhaps an LCD screen isn\'t for them.

I have considered the response time of plasma vs LCD.

The advantage goes to plasma but the time differences have come closer. Also, the area where I will be watching this is well lit and have a lot of windows. I can\'t have the reflection from plasmas. LCDs uses a third less power than plasmas as it uses florescent back lighting.

Just curious but why not an SXRD?

i am not planning on upgrading to any tv yet.  i am just responding my input to the topic starter.  i am happy with my current 34" HDTV CRT.  Love it contrast ratio, black level, viewing angle, and very fast pixel response time.

Bah! Enjoy your refridgerator size tube TV! You terrorist! :D BTW, quit being gay and please buy Blu-ray movies and help kill off the HD DVD format. I\'m looking at you, RAZ.

Thank you.

I buy neither. I simply Netflix my HD DVDs. I will never, ever support a Sony format. It just won\'t happen. Betamax, UMD and other various Sony formats are still fresh in my mind.
My Hi-Def movie collection (much smaller than the SD one).

Sony gets royalties from VHS, CDs and DVDs.

Yeah, Sony had a huge role in the VHS technology.

No shit, Sherlock, but you know what I meant.

Then again, I don\'t buy CD\'s , I only bought used VHS tapes and as for DVD\'s, once again, the only thing I buy of those is superhero flicks and tv sets. Anything else is Netflixed.

Still, I\'ll never support a TRUE Sony format. Just like I\'ll never own another Sony TV, after my first one died within three months. It\'s just one of those things. Everyone has their quirks.

Sony isn\'t the primary developer of Blu-ray! They have had a helping hand but it\'s a consortium of other corporations that created blu-ray.

Matsushita, Pioneer, Philips, Thomson, LG Electronics, Hitachi, Sharp, Samsung and Sony are the founders.

I\'ll put it this way.

I would of never bought into HD DVD, had it not been for the fact that an HD DVD player is extremely cheap. And even then, I own maybe four of them and will never buy another. In my opinion, this whole high def war is stupid and I don\'t think either format is worth the price of a new set  / player  / expensive discs.  That\'s my opinion tho\'.  I figure HD DVD will lose out, but it doesn\'t bother me. I haven\'t invested much in it and I won\'t invest any in Blu Ray, not unless I can get a player for around $100 bucks and then, maybe I would, just so I could Netflix Blu Ray discs also.

But, you\'re talking to someone who refuses to pay extra for Dish HD channels. The content is the same, the show is the same, the better video really doesn\'t change the dynamic for me.  Then again, I own "bootleg" copies of cartoons from the 60\'s, recorded from a TV with rabbit airs, taped to VHS, then recorded to DVD. Sure, the quality is shit, but I still enjoy \'em.

Sony KDLXBR46 = owned! :D

Hooked up the PS3 to it and after letting it auto scan for channels, me and the wife sat down and watched 3:10 to Yuma (BR).

Yuma, I loved the story. I never saw the original in its entirety as a kid but I knew I liked what I saw back then. But this had a great story and the picture quality was outstanding.

I fiddled around with TV\'s picture settings and caused some of the faster paced action (in Yuma, not broadcast) to have slight image trail. Need to read the manual or search for the best setting for this TV for both BR and broadcast.

We have no surround sound but the built in speakers are decent.

Most likely it has different settings for each input channel, so you can optimize each setting.

Congrats, post a pic or two for those of us who are too lazy to Google. :thumb:

Kind of neat to have only one A/V cable coming from your source huh?
