Truer words have never been spoken.
I mean, I understand why some people may like the first couple installments in this franchise and I appreciate the graphical and cinematic qualities this game has, but the gameplay is just plain broken. And the "story", what story? It\'s just a bunch of dialogue that presents a nonsensical "story" in the most loose of terms.

Quote
Epic Games lead designer Cliff "Don\'t Call Me CliffyB" Bleszinski has launched a broadside at Metal Gear Solid 4, calling it "passive entertainment" that\'s on the way out.

"We\'re going from the bowels of the Earth to the highest peaks of Sera, producing those beautiful environmental money shots," Bleszinski said in a short Gears of War 2 interview with IGN. "We want to create places where you\'d want to make your home, and sip coffee in the morning."

"We wanted a blockbuster pace, and in doing so, we lost the story a bit. So that\'s one of the lessons we learned," he said, talking about taking the experiences of the original Gears of War into the sequel. "This time around there\'s more repetition. Games aren\'t movies and aren\'t consumed in a single sitting. So secondary characters will remind you about stuff, which is pre-established in plot clues."

"Metal Gear Solid is our example of the game we\'re not doing," he added. "Passive entertainment is on its way out - you need to hook up with this web 2.0 stuff."

Released in June, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots was well-received by critics and fans alike but raised some eyebrows over the length of its cutscenes; one reviewer described the length of time between starting a new game and engaging the first enemy as "23 cocking minutes."

Gears of Wars 2 is currently in development for the Xbox 360 and is slated for release in November.

Also dead on.

And in that video he is right about one thing... Why does snake spend the whole game questioning whats going on, like he\'s surprised at everything.

It\'s just the dialogue in that game was so bad sometimes.

Otacon: "blah blah blah something something metal gear"

Snake: "Metal Gear?"

Otacon: "Blah blah blah something something The Patriots"

Snake: "The patriots?"

Seriously.... 20min long cut scenes of that. And the part where otacon cries was some of the worst voice acting ive ever heard, i literally laughed at it.

Now that I\'ve finished it and had some time to look back on it... While I enjoyed it, and am glad I played it there is no way that game deserved a perfect score. There was so much Kojima story masturbation in it I would go and make a sandwich while a half an hour of bad dialogue tried to make sense of things. And it really was more of a boring action game than a stealth game.

I give it a 6/10

The wife watched me play and it and she just kept asking, "when do you get to play" at the start. When I finally did get to play, it would be a few moments, then another damn talking codec or cutscene. I quickly said screw this, it\'s just not worth it. I wanted to play a game, not watch a poorly written movie.

It\'s all about first impressions. If I spend over forty minutes "playing" a game and only get two minutes of gameplay, then something is wrong.

I made it to where I get the MK II, rocket launcher and all that crap.

I don\'t know, I really enjoyed it. But maybe I\'m just a sucker for games that have an actual story to go along with it.

Is it me? Or does PSone own all the other systems?

Define "story", please.

When I think of "story", I think of a game like Folklore or maybe Silent Hill.

its definitly one of the more conviluted stories..but entertainment wise, i didn\'t find it more interesting than a few other games.

but im interested to see why the locusts are attacking in gears 2 so it doesnt take too much to get me to get into stories of games i like
