it just seems that when people mention the holocaust most white folks get all emotional and act as if that is the greatest tragedy ever,....but mention slavery?...and what reaction do you get from white folk?...."i wasn\'t responsible for that" or "get over it"....there definitely is a different reaction to both of these horrific tragedys

I think your generalizing a bit too much. I think the reason people get a much deeper reaction from the holocaust is because there have been millions of pictures of people that weigh 60 pounds and are stuffed in a little bunker with like 3-4 people per bed..on top of that they left the sick ones there to die, so if they had dysetary they\'d just be left there.

\'slavery\' on the other hand doesn\'t get those stories synonomous with the word like \'holocaust\' does.

Well what i was getting across was that while that holocaust was basically a one time horrific event,..after ww II things generally improved for them....while blacks,...even those that served honorably in ww II still were treated like s**t....black folks still experienced lynchings and unfair practices bestowed upon them,...i think the jews bounced back faster than blacks did because we were still dealing with bulls**t...not saying that our situation didn\'t improve, it did,..but at an incredibly slow rate....

i hear you. I think that\'s because slavery was actually in this country, while jews were never persecuted here (maybe by racists but..every group was. im talking slavery level), so jews didn\'t have to start as low as african americans here..so their situations are so different that you cant compare the social progress of the two.

as for how to get the african americans more equal...i really have no idea since it feels like its at a stalemate with white people running like 90% of the high corporate jobs and a lot of poor inner-city neighborhoods that are all black.

The Jews were indeed blamed, but there is some partial truth in their dislike for the Jewish. It was taken to the extreme though by the nationalsocialists and blamed the Jewish in general (the result of blind nationalism). Despite that the higher classes of the Jews werent always targeted. There were many mixed families of German-Jews with great economic and influential power. I guarantee you that you will find Germans today that opposed the Nazi regime do not deny the anti-semitism of the nationalsocialist party, and the millions of Jewish that were put into camps and died, but they will tell you exactly that. The elites of the German-Jewish especially those opposing communism were not targeted. The extermination was targeted towards the communist Jewish and political opponent Jewish. In contrast to the extermination the initial and general plan was to maintain the few powerful and get rid of the Jewish by deporting them (not by the best means ofocurse) by force outside Germany which resulted to the losses of fortunes and homes of the Jewish people. The Jewish internationally as naturally expected wouldnt of course accept this and they were expressing their anti-German tendencies (the Jewish were 100% excused for that). This was seen by the Nazi\'s as a possible future thread to Germany and they became more strict and extreme. They formed the concentration camps that forced them in extreme labor conditions and caused the deaths of many.
