Diablo 3 almost sorta kinda confirmed...maybe

if you go to http://www.blizzard.com before it lets you browse the homepage you are met with a big blue picture of ice shards. Over the past 3 days blizzard has been taking away shards of ice that are revealing symbols. Each symbol so far has been from one blizzard game. The first was a symbol from a sword in Warcraft, the second symbol was one of the runes from Diablo 2, and the third revealed today is a symbol from a protoss tribe in Starcraft 2.

Blizzard will reveal the full image after the opening events of  Blizzcon  on the 28th. They\'ll also announce their new game that day and seeing as Starcraft II is coming out and Wrath Of The Lich King. I can\'t see them making Warcraft 4 right after they just finished making Starcraft II, I don\'t see the need to reboot both their RTS franchises with SC2 not even released yet and Warcraft still making a ton of money from WoW.

So I would guess the new game will be the next Diablo game.

Or at least I hope it is...

Just my opinion... Of course if it is diablo 3, that would be all kinds of awesome.

People have been breaking down that pic and showing reasons why it could be diablo. Interesting stuff.


Granted... If it is Diablo, knowing blizzard, it should have a release date sometime around 2012.

Its been about a year since they announced Starcraft II and that game has an unconfirmed release date of December 2008 so who knows how long it will take, whatever new game it is. Blizzard has never been shy about being patient and with the profits they made from WoW alone they don\'t have any reason to rush or be fast with any game thats being worked on.

I\'m really hoping for a D3, because i\'ve been waiting for that game forever. Regardless, it\'ll be an interesting couple of days before Blizzcon. If it does turn out to be Warcraft related I will be very dissapointed

Yeah I think alot of people will be. This much hullabaloo for a release date would be dumb. It\'s just throwing me off with that pic being at warcraft\'s website also.

Buddies nicknamed Diablo 2 the vortex of doom.  Damn game sucked way too many hours of my life away.

I still remember hunting for Stone Of Jordans everyday cause they were pretty much the only way to get the really good gear.

I also remember whenever I made a new character and needed gold you would just join any random game and wait for people to start dueling then steal the gold off their dead body when they died. Good times.

EDIT: New picture today shows a much more clear version of the eyeballs. The eyes look almost identical to the Lich King in Warcraft 3 except between the eyes the symbol on the lich king and the one on the blizzard image are not the same. Also another hidden symbol in the ice was revealed today.

If it\'s just the release date for the WOW expansion I\'m gonna be pissed.

They announced this expansion like over 6 months ago... Do they want a pat on the back because they are actually going to release it? I don\'t get it.


I think Blizzard is a little out of touch for thinking people still care this much about WOW. I know it has a big user base... But they really are just totally catering to fanboys now. Maybe they don\'t realize how many fans they have that don\'t play warcraft, and are waiting for them to do ANYTHING that isn\'t warcraft related.

Someone on another forum brought up a good point that the runes in the picture are from all different games... Starcraft, Warcraft and Diablo, so maybe this pic is a teaser for not just one announcement, but a couple different announcements. Sounds possible to me.
