More than 10,000 people have been mobilised in the Chinese city of Qingdao to clean up green algae which has invaded the Olympic sailing venue.

The algae arrived in late May and now covers 13,000 sq km (5,000 sq miles) of sea, Xinhua news agency said.

It occupies almost a third of the area that will be used for the sailing competition during the 9-21 August Olympic Games.

Officials estimate that the clean-up will take two more weeks.

\'Smelly\'

Richard Zheng from Qingdao told the BBC News website that a number of his fellow students had been involved in the clean-up effort.

"There is really too much algae. [SIZE="5"]When I go to the beach, I can smell it and it is really quite smelly - a bit like a soup we drink in restaurants," he said.[/SIZE]

"Some people are getting quite worried in case this will have an impact on the Olympic Games. But there are many fishing ships out collecting the algae as well as students. We believe the algae will disappear when the weather changes.

"This has happened before in Qingdao but not so frequently in the last few years," Mr Zheng added.

Nitrogen

At a news conference on Sunday, Qingdao Olympic Sailing Committee member Yuan Zhiping said workers were focusing on the competition area.

"We have stressed to all the people devoted to this campaign that the priority should [be] given to the Olympic venue and we expect to eliminate all these sea weeds before 15 July," he said.



Olympic sailors were already training in the area and their preparation was being affected, Xinhua said.

More than 1,000 boats were involved in the clean-up operation and 100,000 tonnes of the weeds had already been removed, it added.

Coastal areas and lakes in China see frequent algae blooms, often caused by the discharge of nitrogen-rich chemical pollutants, sewage and fertilisers in the water.

But Wang Shulian, of Qingdao\'s Oceanic and Fishery Department, put the presence of the algae down to the temperature of the water and its salinity.

quite true, Vietnamese are among the least attractive people in appearance, but many asians in general don\'t look that good.  Genetically, its just how they are.  i see many Asians women like Vietnamese women that have plastic surgeries to make them look White, like having eyes job, nose job, tattoo around eyelashes, tattoo lips, and tattoo eyebrows.

But again, no matter what, you can\'t change a chicken to look like a peacock or a pencock.  it won\'t look good regardless, and it doesn\'t look natural either.

Also, Asians in general are a lot shorter than other races (European, African, Hispanics).

Very rarely do I see Asians that look decent, unless they are mixed of European race, or sometimes with European and African race in them.

asian chicks don\'t age well

like any other race, that\'s usually depends on individual.  some individual age well, while other don\'t.  i seen asian that age gracefully, but they don\'t look good in appearance though.

Usually it\'s the rich and wealthy Asians that age gracefully than the poor because they have money so they don\'t have to work hard.  they can spend quality time on physical activities like sports, outdoor activities, spend money on nutritious food, etc.  and with money, they also get help with plastic surgeries too.

While the poor Asians, they just look bad and more likely not to age gracefully either.  Also, of course since they are poor, they aren\'t as smart as the rich. genetic does play a role on intelligent about why some people born poor are more likely still be poor.

Our work volunteered to do some cleaning at the Asian Center for the Aged and many of my co-workers were surprised at the age of the Asians there. What looked like 60 year old Asians, they were well into their 80s and 90s and quite mobile. By comparison to the other centers, the  whites and blacks were very overweight, in poor health and were looking worse than the Asian.

As a general rule though, Asians typically look younger compared to other races.

I dunno. A buddy of mine in high school was Vietnamese and his mom was insanely hot. She seriously looked like she was in her early 30s but was in her mid 40s. Her body was.....damn. I miss going to his LAN parties, lol. I should see what my friend\'s been up to since high school

You know I tend to agree with that and not necessarily because of famous personalities as references.
