I guess maybe I\'m just expecting him to be a jerk... Therefore convincing myself he is. It just seemed in the couple interviews I saw he didn\'t even look at the person talking to him. He kept taking drinks of water before he answered a question, and then his answers had absolutely nothing to do with the question asked (what else is new with athletes though huh?). Then when the interviewer told him thanks for the time, he would just say "yeah" and walk away.

After half the races he has another one in a limited amount of time.  He still has to cool down and everything else.  Being tired and short on time probably doesn\'t help the interview.

"The greatest olympian of all time, yeah that sounds pretty coo, I like the sound of itl."

No I wouldn\'t. He is a swimmer, he is doing the only sport where has 8 chances to win a gold. Other athletes don\'t have that oppurtunity but that doesn\'t make them a lesser caliber athlete than Phelps.

Also I forget his name but I would say that black athlete from the USA who went and won numerous golds in track at the germany olympics during WW2 is the greatest olympian. He doesn\'t have as many medals as phelps, but going to nazi germany and winning while Hitler is there in the stadium is one hell of a accomplishment.

actually track athletes could do the same.  The accomplishment comes from being able to beat everyone else just an hour after having beat everyone else.  That is just sick.

I don\'t want to make it sound like i\'m taking anything away from his accomplishment, I know its insane what he has been able to do.

I wouldn\'t necessarily say he\'s the best Olympian ever.  Track athletes might have enough events to do it but that\'s way more unrealistic with the distances making them much different, as opposed to different strokes.  He\'s still one of the great athletes ever just not the best.

I\'ll take Carl Lewis or Jesse Owens for best Olympian

Phelps will still be swimming in 4 years.  Doubt if he will be able to do 8 events again, but damn that\'s a lot of medals if he can pull it off.
