Top 3 Things for Obama\'s Presidency
« on: November 07, 2008, 07:38:08 AM »
Ok now that Obama\'s been elected, what are the top three things you\'d like to see him accomplish in his first term?

Coming from a conservative point of view I doubt any of mine will be completely accomplished, but I can only hope:

1) Fix the economy!  It\'s a real mess out there right now, this has to be at the top of everyone\'s list.  Without a strong economy we will be hard pressed to accomplish anything else.  I just hope he doesn\'t turn it into a socialist economy as so many have feared.  I doubt this gets fixed with all the government spending Obama has planned, but I can only hope.

2) Follow through on your tax cuts, not tax credits.  Barack\'s claim is that anyone making less than $250,000 a year will see their taxes reduced.  If that\'s the case I\'m in line for a huge tax cut.  My fear is that this was a mere campaign ploy and that my taxes will go up with everyone elses.

3) Be non-partisan.  I am hoping for Obama to be non-partisan and accept legislation from both the left and the right.  I don\'t want our country moving radically to the left, and I doubt most of America does either.
\"In the last 12 months 100,000 private sector jobs have been lost and yet you\'ve created 30,000 public sector jobs. Prime Minister, you cannot carry on forever squeezing the productive bit of the economy in order to fund an unprecidented engorgement of the unproductive bit. You cannot spend your way out of recession or borrow your way out of debt.\" - Daniel Hannan

president candidates always, every single one in the history of politics has promised not raising taxes and funding everything ever created. what happens in reality is almost always different. He said he would fund things in order to get groups of people to vote for him, and only the gullible (a lot of people) believe politicians will actually do what they say.

i dont have any specifics right now other than the obvious, fix the economy and create jobs

but low expectations, no disappointment is my motto

4) White people are to report to the nearest cotton fields.

5) Fried Chicken will replace the Bald Eagle as the national bird.

You idiot. You forgot the obvious. ;)

For me,

1. Go through with the tax cuts you promised. It was such a big deal during the campaign - don\'t be a liar. I would accept a tax credit as long as my taxes weren\'t raised. I want to be better off next year than this one as far as fed. taxes go. And hit up those in top tier income brackets. I know it\'s not fair, but we\'ve got stuff to pay for.

2. Decrease our deficit. Cut spending in huge ways compared to Bush years and start us on a good path.

3. Create real incentives to push us toward alternative fuel. Summer isn\'t long off and it\'s going to be brutal like every year. Encourage us to get off the oil dependency and come up with our own alternatives. Better still, this will keep American money in America for a change and help our economy further.

Fourth for me is Iraq, but I\'m not sold on Obama\'s plans here yet. I think McCain would\'ve handled it better based on his campaign, at least.

I\'m also curious to see what the house does with the child health care bill that Bush vetoed. Could be laying the groundwork for future change.

Reagan cut taxes by cutting government spending.

Reagan rocks!    :artyon:

And who was in charge of the presidency and had the majority in the congress?....yep..republicans. If they really wanted to do something about the housing crisis, they could have, yet everybody, both republicans and democrats turned a blind eye to the situation and both were more concerned with gettin\' the pockets laced up. Truth be told, fannie mae & freddie mac were pimping both republicans and democrats into getting their way as far as their mortgage financing was concerned.

Who is this anamoly we call Jumpman? How is he able to do what he does and still survive after years of torment? It seems he feeds on the hate, growing with an intense passion to put unassuming members in their place.

His #1 priority is this:

#2 Replace the Bald Eagle with Fried Chicken

#3 Start the Pledge of Allegiance with "Yo, yo, uh, uh..."
