Obama\'s senate seat...
« on: December 31, 2008, 05:22:31 AM »
I\'m sure everybody by now knows what is goin\' on with the illinois govenor. What is amazing is this democratic politician(Bobby Rush) tryin\' to play the race card....

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081231/ap_on_go_co/illinois_governor_senate;_ylt=AhVJh5IIW7ZsYcKg76SKN3mGWo14

"Let me just remind you that there presently is no African-American in the U.S. Senate," he began.

"I will ask you to not hang and lynch the appointee as you try to castigate the appointer," he added. "I don\'t think that anyone — any U.S. senator who\'s sitting in the Senate right now — wants to go on record to deny one African-American for being seated in the U.S. Senate."

^^^Why even say this?....you cats already know how i feel about the racial stuff, but i hate when black folks in particular try to use it to their advantage....there\'s nothing racist at all about rejecting this guys senate pick....the govenor has corruptions scandals out the ass and you still accept an appointment by this clown? Roland Burris (the guy accepting the seat) has actually stated that the govenor needs to step down.

But after he accepted the nomination he was asked if the govenor still needs to step down...and his response was "i have no comment"....pathetic.

Is Jesse Jackson still crying?
\"In the last 12 months 100,000 private sector jobs have been lost and yet you\'ve created 30,000 public sector jobs. Prime Minister, you cannot carry on forever squeezing the productive bit of the economy in order to fund an unprecidented engorgement of the unproductive bit. You cannot spend your way out of recession or borrow your way out of debt.\" - Daniel Hannan

Maybe the Blagojevich guy likes the 15 minutes of fame he\'s currently having and he wanted to create drama.  I don\'t get it, if he\'s charged of trying to selling the senate seat, how is that he still have the power to appoint the seat to someone else?  Also, how is it that he\'s still a free man?  I am confused.

b/c he has yet to be indicted.

also he is still the gov. and under law that is his job to  seat someone even though IL politicians wont seat whom ever he appoints. The sec. of state refused to even accept the paper work.

yeah..the law is the law....in most cases an idiot such as this govenor would step down and show a shred of dignity, but he\'s catchin\' everybody off guard by not stepping down, so now all of the cats that want to slam him have to go thru the redtape of filing the paperwork of legal documents to get him indicted....and the govenor knows that this thing is going to be a long process in terms of getting him nailed, which is why he\'s being a dick about the whole situation.

plus in actuality, they dont have much on him. Defense is certainly going to argue that he was just "talking"

IMO, they jumped the gun a little bit. Should have waited a little longer.

It would be like me bragging about selling drugs to you guys and the government trying to lock me up b/c of what I said online with no proof of physical sales.

As Clips quoted above, first Burris said:

Quote
In an interview Wednesday, Burris didn\'t back away from Rush\'s assertion. "It is a fact, there are no African-Americans in the United States Senate," he said on NBC\'s "Today." "Is it racism that is taking place? That\'s a question that someone may raise."

NOW he\'s saying:

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090106/ap_on_go_co/senate_burris
Quote
Some of Burris\' supporters have bemoaned the fact that Democrats would stand in the way of the Senate gaining its only black member. Burris himself downplayed the issue of race, telling reporters: "I cannot control my supporters. I have never in my life, in all my years of being elected to office, thought anything about race."

YEAH RIGHT.  I don\'t really care much about the double talk.  I simply don\'t understand why Burris is pursuing this.  I don\'t know why he\'s forcing the Senate to bar him from the chamber.

Most of the united states, the state of Illinois, and the entire Democratic party are against you.  If you succeed in your legal challenge you\'ll always be known as the asshole who weasled into the senate on questionable grounds.

If you want to be a senator, then run for office and get elected.  Don\'t accept an appointment from a corrupt Governor.  Maybe that\'s just the way they think about public office in Illinois.  Get as much power as you can any way possible.  The ends justify the means.
