I know Walking Dead isn\'t for everyone. I\'m a sucker for a good zombie story, and I love the fact that kirkman wrote a zombie story about the poeple dealing with it, and not the zombies themselves. I\'ve never read Invincible so I can\'t speak on it at all.
I should clarify my superhero statment... It\'s not that I dislike superhero comics. Theres just... so... many of them. I can\'t keep up on whats good and what sucks.
I read All star super man and loved the hell out of it. But that came highly recommended to I gave it a shot.
You tell me a real good super hero comic to read right now, and I\'ll start picking it up. I\'ll give Green Lantern a try.
If you give Green Lantern a try, which is probably the one I\'d recommend the most...you need to go back to the beginning of Geoff Johns\' run, which starts at Green Lantern: Rebirth, then goes into the 1-numbers. Rebirth is an easy buy since Ethan Van Sciver draws the art, and he\'s fucking brilliant. You could stare at his pages for hours and not notice all the subtle details. Him, Doug Mahnke, and Frank Quitely are my top 3 DC artists.
His doing sort of a trilogy. Rebirth was the first one, Sinestro Corps War 2nd, and The Blackest Night is coming this summer. Sinestro War was pretty much universally declared as the best superhero "event" in years. Blackest Night arrives with every dead superhero/villain rising from the dead. Picture Star Wars with zombies. All the internet nerds are hyping this to be the greatest thing ever.
And I hate to plug Marvel, but Thor is pretty fucking epic. The recent volume at least. Written by John Michael Straczynski (legit Hollywood writer, wrote script for the Changeling), drawn by Oliver Coipel, easily one of the best written and looking books out there. Very easy to get into as well. Reads like a LOTR story with beautiful pictures.
