Times: Obama polling one point shy of being least popular president in 40 years

   President Obama\'s media cheerleaders are hailing how loved he is. But at the 100-day mark of his presidency, Mr. Obama is the second-least-popular president in 40 years.

    According to Gallup\'s April survey, Americans have a lower approval of Mr. Obama at this point than all but one president since Gallup began tracking this in 1969...

    ...The explanation for Mr. Obama\'s low approval is that he ran as a moderate but has governed from the far left. The fawning and self-deceiving press won\'t go there. On Sunday\'s "Meet the Press," host David Gregory asked a panel about critics who "would say one of the things that he\'s done in 100 days already is expand the role of government, the size of government." Historian Doris Kearns Goodwin claimed, "That\'s what he ran for the presidency in the first place for."

    Perplexed about complaints over Mr. Obama\'s expansion of government, Newsweek editor Jon Meacham asked: "does no one listen during campaigns?"

    It was these pundits who weren\'t paying attention during last year\'s campaign. In all three presidential debates, Mr. Obama promised to cut government spending and reduce the size of the deficit. He blamed the economic crisis on excessive deficits. At no time did candidate Barack Obama say that more deficit-spending was the solution.

My my, how the mighty have fallen... but you\'ll never hear about it.  Now I\'ll wait for you to somehow refute theses numbers, and come up with reasons why this is untrue or unfair.

It\'s interesting how you typed "Times" but didn\'t mention that this is from the Washington Times that rightwing mouthpiece, and it\'s an editorial.

According to the new USA Today/Gallup poll, conducted April 20-21, about a quarter of Americans are on the fence, saying his performance has been "just okay."...
 
These summary evaluations of Obama\'s presidency provide a more detailed picture of public reaction to the new president than Gallup\'s standard job approval rating. Gallup Poll Daily tracking from April 20-22 finds 65% of Americans saying they "approve" of the job Obama is doing as president; 29% disapprove. Thus, on both measures, Americans\' general assessment is quite positive, by a better than 2-to-1 margin.

And rightwing nutcases are trying to spin this to make it sound like Obama has "low approval."

Haha...owned........His approval ratings did drop since january, but that\'s normal for any president,...especially when the said prez starts to enact his policies...not everybody will like what he\'s doing..even those that voted for him...he\'s still in a better place than most, but the real test will to see where he\'s at in about two years.

I didn\'t write the article, but I find it funny that different news outlets report different numbers/perspectives on the numbers.  Shows how you can\'t trust the media in general.

And for the record, every newspaper/tv station/etc will have a political leaning, find me an unbiased media outlet and I\'ll buy you a cookie.

Anything that\'s anti-obama is automatically conservative bias, anything that\'s pro-obama is liberal bias, that\'s just the perception people have.  Unfortunately, perception will always win out over reality... that\'s why you never let the truth get in the way of a good story.
