G-R - Actually, WWF Attitude got terrible reviews at most sites. But hell, I know exactly what you mean about stupid reviewers. Apocalypse for PSX was ripped on in most places, but I absolutely loved it. Same with Air Force Delta for the Dreamcast. You just can\'t trust reviewers anymore.
Astroboy and Living-in-Clip - Personally, I love CannonSpike/GunSpike. It\'s supposed to be short. Back in the day, we used to beat games over and over and over. How many times did you play Mario Bros, Streets of Rage, and others only once? Since we moved to 3D, all of the sudden games are untouched once beaten. I play fighting games over and over - even though I beat them in one sitting. Same with Crazy Taxi. You just play to beat your score, like the old days. Although, I gotta say, Gunbird 2 is a better title. Really looking forward to Mars Matrix and (hopefully) Strikers 3 (Strikers for Saturn is amazing).
As far as beat \'em ups, thats one genre that has not made a smooth transition to 3D. First of all, old beat \'em ups were beaten in one sitting. But we all forget that. Games like that always get poor scores because they are redundant. Nowadays, people expect a LOOOOOONG game experience. If it\'s over in less than 5 hours, they want nothing to do with it. I think they forgot that the shorter the game is, the easier it is to play over and over and over and over (Double Dragon, Final Fight, Streets of Rage, etc). Oh well. Beat \'em ups are like verticle shooters - they are short by nature. Square just has to make a game that people WANT to play over and over. Some developers cheat by slapping in multiplayer. Hopefully they did multiplayer right.
