ps2 disappointment in Japan.

I am dissapointed with ps2 disappointment in Japan because of the dissapointed feelings from the dissapointing news.

They don\'t know anything, they said X-box would be 256-bit! A new console can\'t automaticlly excellant, it takes time. Besides, the hype was from future games.

I believe sony will have a way of fixing this up soon, no one can stay strong forever, there are always down times. The threat right now is really xbox and gamecube. I am a real big fan of sony that\'s why i bought psx and ps2, but i am planning on buying gamecube as well since it is such a nice machine. Xbox? I don\'t think i will ever buy that, i just have the feeling that it sounds like a joke... just personal preference(Maybe sony\'s psx brainwash and probs i had with M$ softwares with my pc)

I will support sony to the VERY end, no matter what happens, and I have great respect to sega and nintendo, they have done a great job too

Yeah a couple of gamers in a coffe shop, and lines in front of stores buying the newer version of the PS2 yeah Sony\'s doomed.

Naive uneducated people don\'t seem to realize how challenging it is to bring new technology to the mainstream and manufacture it to the masses in such a short period of time, not to mention the learning curve involved in mastering the technology.

Sony gambled and I think they\'ll do extremly well, its takes extremly large balls and lots and lots of cash to go the route SOny\'s is going, and when all is said and done the gaming industry will be better for it, Sony\'s invested heavily into the gaming industry and they\'ll reap the rewards but obviously they have to ride out the bumps, and try most of your patience in the process.

it will be interesting to see whats really happening around Christmas 2002. Sony will be showing off 4 th and 5th gen software Xbox wand GC will be a year old and the DC\'s fate will be realized wehter they made it or not that is

Oh I\'m sorry, I thought the PS2 was going to have MGS2, GT3, Winning Eleven 5, Dark Cloud, ZOE, Ace Combat 4, Tekken 4, Final Fantasy X, EA Games, The Bouncer, Squaresoft Games, Star Wars: Starfighter, Ring of Red, Kengo, Silent Hill 2, EPSN NHL Hockey, and Shadow of Destiny to name but a few titles that will be released soon.

I guess I was wrong, excuse me I have to go sell my PS2 now since it\'s not going to go far. I think instead of playing these games in the upcoming weeks and months, I will sit on my ass and wait a year for the X-Box and GC.

I\'ll go section by section.
1-One small shipment of DVD players selling in japan means nothing. More than 6 months from japans launch and movies and PSone games are still the only things going for it there.

2-I hope you don\'t mean me. Every system faces those hudles. Sony came in expecting they would win again, but have made many serious mistakes. I\'m sure it\'ll work ou fine in the end, but it\'s unlikely they will lead this generation.

3-What route would that be? The \'not having a large enough user base because we con\'t make enough systems\' route, or the \'we made our system notoriously difficult and expensive to develope for\' route? I think they will do ok in the end, but only because of a handful of games, and the unnessessary hype they had launching the system.

4-It will be interesting, but no more so than any other year at that time.

Oh a real gamer\'s system eh? So you\'re one of those harcore gamers huh? So you\'re saying because I don\'t have a DC (yet) I\'m not real gamer, I\'m not hardcore then. So while I review videogames for a website, while I spent $2000 for my TV, my PS2 and games, all this while paying for my University tuition and my books, I am not a gamer? So while I have a truckload of PSX games that I still play, with new ones comming in all the time, I\'m not a gamer?

Sitting on my ass and waiting for everything? Who says I\'m just sitting on my ass here doing nothing, I still have to finish off Chrono Cross, I still haven\'t unlocked all the characters in SSX, I\'m still playing Jarret and Labonte Racing (kick ass game by the way), ISS PE, and once my exams are done I\'ll have to get my hands on Sky Odessey, FFIX and import a copy of Winning Eleven 2000 U23.

Whatever buddy, I\'ll be getting my DC in the new year, will I be a real gamer then? Do I get a badge or a certificate?

:LAUGHING: THAT WAS FUNNY a real gamers system like the PS2 is not for real gamers or hardcore

Ethugg you just lost a ton of credibility, the DC didn\'t come with a **** load of software and had far less titles to choose from at its launch, the PS2 launch kicked serious ass. DC launch fans had to wait for things to get flowing too.



and there are a ton of games coming out on the PS2 and by Christmas time 2001 the PS2 will have so much your head will spin,


and no the Xbox or Gamecube won\'t have the majority of titles the PS2 will have, some yes but most no. As for looking better, I imagine so, but you underestimate the PS2 there is alot left in that machine and it unfortunate in ways cause short sighted people like yourself seemed obsessed with just graphics. The PS2 was designed to do much more than pump out polygons, that\'s the real innovation and revolution Sony was talking about and if you sit back and watch the machine mature you might just understand that.


But of course this is a console war and people have to have everything right now and Sony sucks cause they screwed up the launch and Xbox is going rule because PC components are the obvious direction the console gaming industry should go in and blah blah blah

SOny is in great shape, with huge industry support and name brand recognition

And yes SOny\'s route with the EE is EXTREMLY GOOD for the gaming business. That chip has tremendous potential and the 250 + developers supporting SOny obviously agree. PC technology is easier but its a very outdated architexture,

I can tell you obviously have little faith in SOny\'s future, I think its going to kick ass.

Well, I just watched this TV-game-show called Tilt! ( they review games, tell news etc. ), and in the news section I heard that PS2 sold like hot cakes in Japan ( with the new unit wich comes with remote-controller ); all consoles ran out in a day!

Now new units are coming next week. LEts see how they\'re going to sell..

I can\'t really see why PS2 is doing bad. I can\'t see but a biased opinion, EtHugg. Think about it. DC has been out in japan about year and a half; now of course it has good games. But think about PS2 in the next X-mas... MGS2, FFX etc.

Dreamcast has had time. You\'re comparing the two consoles ( and I think they should never be compared! IT DOESN\'T MATTER wich sells more; it\'s about your opinion that matters ) like they would\'ve been launched the same day. Think before you shout.
