Who do you want to win?
« on: December 16, 2000, 01:10:27 PM »
What console would you like to see go all the way and win and why?

Mine is DC.

I want Sega\'s image to be restored to that of the Genesis days. I am seeing a positive effort in that regard.

I would like more visibility of Sega\'s franchises for the next generation. Possibility of old Sega sequels if the DC sticks around for some time, like Shining Force, Panzer Dragoon, Shinobi, and Phantasy Star (real sequel, not online :))

And, I would like developers who chose not to support Sega to eat their words and their lowered income. :)

People like Trip Hawkins and EA, Vic Ireland and Working Designs, Square period. And any other Developers who chose not to porduce DC games because of disliking Sega or thinking the DC had no chance.

So what are your picks and reasons?

I would like to see Dreamcast go all the way, but it really doesn\'t matter to me; they are just gaming consoles.

I want Sega to win.  For these reasons:

1. Respect.  Sega needs to clean up their name after the 32X/Sega CD/Saturn trio of woe.  I\'m tired of hearing that the Dreamcast will fail - even after it\'s sold more than all three of last gen\'s systems did in their first year combined.  I\'m tired of people omitting it from the list of consoles to buy; they just talk about XBox, PS2, Gamecube.  Back in the day, EVERYBODY included the Genesis in their console conversations.  I want Sega to have the respect that they had with the Genesis.  (Sega did NOT abandon the Genesis - REMEMBER that.  They abandoned the systems that sold poorly, JUST LIKE SONY WOULD).

2. More games.  If DC gains sales, then developers won\'t ignore the next Sega console.

3. More visibility for franchises.  Virtua Fighter, Virtua Cop, etc.  Tekken became huge AFTER it hit the Playstation in America.  If Saturn had been as big as PSX, then maybe the Virtua Fighter series would be more popular.

Yes, of course.

This is more of a psychological test for some of you out there (GameRiader, BizioEE, TLUV, unknown, etc.) Designed to make you think about why you do the things you do.

So why is it?

I want all systems to sell equally, because competition drives industries.

In all honesty, as much as I like Dreamcast and it\'s many great games, I would really like for each console to do equally well. Considering all four consoles are great, I would really be happy to see them all gain an equal 25% of the industry.

Of course, this isn\'t a perfect world. :)

Sony, of course. They impressed the hell outta me in the last generation, and I\'d like them to continue pushing the envelope of lowered censorship and technology. I do wish they\'d up their quality control a bit, but hey.. even if only 1 out 10 games isn\'t a turd, there\'s still enough to give me a great library of games.

I\'d also like to see Sega come out a winner. They\'ve done increadibly well so far with the dreamcast, far better than anyone had predicted. They need to get the respect they deserve.

Nintnedo... well I\'d like to see them succeed too, but not dominate. They do make some damn good games, even if most of them aren\'t of my taste. However, I\'d to see someone break the stranglehold they have on the Handheld market. If Sega could put out a handheld that\'s only marginally less powerful than the GBA over five years ago, I\'m sure Nintnedo could have given us more than what we\'re getting. Hell Sony\'s PSOne is only a breath away from being a 32bit handheld.. If Nintnedo had wanted to, or were forced to because of competition.. we\'d have 32 or 64 bit handhelds by now.

Microsoft.. I could care less. I\'d just hate to have them put in a position where they could manipulate and control the console market in the same way they\'ve to the PC market.

I don\'t want any console to win, I want them all, or at least any three of them, to succede and make money, but if one destroyed the others it would be a shame.

DC, for the simple fact Sega has worked hard on this generation of consoles. I think it deserves it.

I\'d say SONY, if they would bump up quality control. The PS market got flooded with ****ty games, and I have a feeling the PS2 will also. They need to bump up quality control big time.

First of all,I\'m interested in the quality of videogames and not in the winner of the Next-generation consoles War!
But however I have to answer you...so I\'d say Sony because of her aptitude and desire to bring innovations and new experiences in our houses: Yes,I see PS2 like a wonderful machine for the homely entertainment, with wonderful next-generation games, films in DVD,Dolby Surround Sound 5.1(I\'m buying frontal loudspeakers, the central loudspeaker,Subwoofer, back loudspeakers,Dolby decoder Digital/DTS and the amplifier to recreate the Great three-dimensional sound effects of Cinemas!),and other several new applications in the near future!...and this All in only one machine! PS2 has really a Great potential and I\'m confident that Sony will manage to express it:)

He has the power of both worlds

Actually, scratch that. I rather see the Indreama beat them all. Why? Because it truly moves the industry foward and has the odds stacked against it. Free SDK and the many other extras make it the most original console out of the 5.
