Who do you want to win?
« Reply #15 on: December 17, 2000, 12:11:41 PM »
I don\'t want any company to win this war. This should end up equally and no loses. But I know it isn\'t possible.

MM made a really good point there. Us, gamers; that\'s why consoles are for. We should win. Cheaper prices, more quality games, better graphics etc. :)

But I don\'t want any company to dominate the market. That wouldn\'t mean cheaper prices, more quality games and better graphics...

That\'d mean even more expencive prices, less quality games ( think: only one company to develop for.. many developers could jump off the whole console-sledge to PC )...

And this competition drives game-developers and big companies over-do themselves.

If there\'d be only one dominative company, it\'d become lazy...

Just think and you\'ll see :)

Who do I want to win? Win? What? The lottery? Me! I want to win, so I can buy all the consoles coming out in the near future!

Oh, eh, what console... blah. Why\'d anyone want someone to "win". Does this include the other consoles dying and withering away to their gloomy demise? I want all of the major consoles to succeed, so well have more games and funfunfun! :D But that also means more expenses for us... which is tolerable if the machines are worth it. And it seems they very much are/will be.

Can\'t they all / Can\'t we all just get along :)

If the gamers win, by your definition of lower prices and such, than Sega and Nintendo will lose. Think about it. Sony and Microsoft can both stand to take gigantic hits year after year, if they need to, to make a profit. Sega is poor enough as it is and barely making money. And Nintendo has the handheld market, but then again Wonderswan could be big, ya never know.

Well, I wouldn\'t let the fact that someone has been a successful person financially determine my console of choice. But hey, that\'s me. :)

A topic like this was posted at Consoledomes awhile ago... I\'ll just use that post to save some valuable time.:)But with some changes...

In response to the topic,I would love to see Sega or Nintendo win.Sony and MS are trying to monopolize the game industry, thats just not right man.Back in the 16 bit generation, it was all about the games.Nintendo\'s greats versus Sega\'s greats, this time Sony and MS are just buying their way through everything .I don\'t like that stuff.

NGC looks like the follow up for the SNES, and the DC appears to be the follow up for tnhe Genesis, the two best consoles in history pumpimg out good games consistantly.... I think it will be the same thing with NGC and DC.

This is how I see it.N64 and Saturn were major screw ups, disapointments. I have a feeling that I won\'t feel the same way this time...

I know this is a playstation forum, but i\'d really like to see Nintendo come out as the winner. I hate to see people say stuff like Nintendo is kiddy and that the N64 sucked. They\'re the ones that started gaming and i think they need to boost their image from the N64. I hope they win, but definitely not by a huge margin.

I would definitely love Sega to win, but i doubt it will happen. I own a dreamcast and love it very dearly and i think that sega will get a respectable share of the market but not enough to win. I definitely do not want sega to become a 3rd party and stop making consoles. That would be horrible! I think they will be able to restore there image and will be able to use the dreamcast as a confidence builder for their next console. (By the way does anybody have any news/links about sega making a new console because i haven\'t heard anything? If you do, could you please reply and give a link if possibl.)

I want Sony to keep the respect and developers that they already have and compete strongly sales-wise (which i have no doubt that they will). I think they may have made a couple of mistakes that might hurt them. Nintendo is not going to screw up twice and now they have Microsoft to compete with. They needed to really pour on the attack if they wanted to win. I think they are counting on what they did with the PSX to carry them through this generation. Probably won\'t happen.

Finally, Microsoft. As much as people hate microsoft, i really don\'t hate them at all. They are a very strong company and bill gates is definitely a genius. Whatever they enter in they will be successful. However, I don\'t want anything to take over what Nintendo, Sega, and Sony (which i have come to except as a respectable gaming company) have established. I think they will fare well, but will not make it all the way, hopefully.

I want Sony to come out ahead, but not dominate. I want a semi close battle between competition.

SOny invest lots and lots of money back into gaming and thats a great sign for me that Sony will continue to push the industry, but they still need to be pushed by the competition.

What I really like about this console war is that there are 4 really cool machine with different strengths and weaknesses. Each company pulling the industry in a slightly different dirrection. The competition will study each other and make improvements based off the strengths of other systems to make the next generation that much more spectacular.

Nintendo is not going to screw up twice

if there is one thing history has taught me its htat Nintendo will allways srew up again. They make some gresat move or game, then the shoot themselves in the foot. So far Gamecube has been a pretty good move, they haven\'t made any criplling mistakes, but watch over the next year and they will. The thing is Nintendo is realy good at limping, they can keep going despite shooting themselves, thats their streangth.

I would also like all the consoles to do equally well. In the end that would mean more games for all of us. Some prefer Nintendo, some prefer Sega and others prefer Sony. Oh, and Microsoft.

More games on all consoles would mean a bigger selection of games for those who like a particular platform - or all of the above. So, no winners or loosers.

Let me agree with you. I have excactly the same opinion about this.

But then there wouldn\'t be no winners. And we\'re asking winners here, eh? :)

Well, this is just the law of nature... only the Strongest survive! ( or was that the law of Jungle?...?... :) )
