Mass Effect: Andromeda-anybody have it?
« on: May 14, 2017, 06:53:59 AM »
Been making some decent headway in the single player. I didn't want to get involved in the multiplayer until I got fairly far in the single player. Now I'm at a point of playing online. Anybody have it and want to get a game together? Also, what are your thoughts on the game as a whole?

I have the game and finished it....it was alright. I thought the game had some stunning visuals in certain parts of the game, but i thought the characters (save for Drack and maybe Vetra) and the story was lacking. The whole vibe and story itself felt a bit watered down and the dialogue of some of the squadmates was just cringeworthy at times.

Lastly we travel to Andromeda and we only see TWO alien races?.....a bit lazy in that aspect, but i guess it fit with the story they was trying to tell. I did like the open worlds tho...they felt real and organic and they didn't have artificial invisible walls....you really had a huge map to play in for each world.

Overall not a bad game, just mediorce for me....

I loved the game. Though the critiques about the story are definitely valid. I too feel it was mediocre. Not bad. Not good. But it's Mass Effect and I love the universe so it satisfied me. I felt a lot of the characters were flat, except for Drack and Vetra. I loved those two. Peebee was alright and I romanced her. Jaal was a well rounded character and realized halfway through the game I should have romanced him (wanted to have Jaal as my Garrus, lol. Badass best friend :) ). If you look into the history of development, it was troubled. When they'd change directors, they'd scrap the story and start over. Aside from the combat system, they made the game in a year and a half. There were also other issues too. Kotaku I think did the article. I can't seem to find it though.

The two alien races didn't bother me. You are only in a small cluster of the whole galaxy and the story was about the Jaardan and the creation of the Angara while also telling the story of a polar opposite invader species trying to exhalt them and other races. I liked how the Kett and the Milky Way races were both considered invaders but on complete opposite ends of the spectrum and how both affected the Angara.

Clips, I've been doing the multiplayer a lot, you down?

Haha....unfortunately, i'm not a fan of Andromeda's multiplayer.....it's weird for me as i feel the gameplay in the Single Player game was smooth and actually an improvement from past games, but eh, part of me just likes the old ME3 MP better....sorry.... :(......and yeah Andromeda had a ton of issues during it's development cycle. I read about it in that article you was talking about. Just seemed like bad management overall and when people started leaving the project was when everything just spiraled out of control.

Weird. I didn't find a difference in the smoothness between single and multiplayer. They actually changed the single player combat so it would match the multiplayer. I also thought it was an improvement over ME3's multiplayer. The same basically but upgraded. Though whenever I see you on PSN, you are playing ME3 so I can understand why you are stuck in your ways ;) How about we meet halfway sometime and play ME3 online?

I'm playing Horizon Zero Dawn now lol. But I'm off the next four days and a couple days are supposed to be rainy so I'm sure I'll find time.

Titan, since you played both Uncharted 4 and Horizon Zero Dawn, what do you think of the graphic?  Which game has better graphic?

That's a tough one. They're both equally beautiful IMO.

Uncharted 4 and Horizon are two very different types of games. Both of them have really good game play and work very smoothly. Horizon is set up a little more RPGish with skill trees and weapon upgrades, whereas Uncharted is basically "here's everything you need, now go and shoot and climb shit". The approach they took with each of the games in terms of their game play is well done for the types of games they are. But drawing a comparison, you can't really do that. It depends if you want a run and gun type of game (Uncharted) or a game you have to think about specing your character and weapons (Horizon).

I'd say so. You can't go wrong with either. Though, I know you like RPGs so you'll likely enjoy Horizon more. I'm a mutt when it comes to my interest in games so I can go in many directions with different genres. The story and game play is what I value most, not necessarily the genre of game.

cool.  back in the late 90s and early 2000s, i love rpgs the most.  after mid 2002, i lost most interest in videogames.  But i also like other genres too beside rpgs, but i love rpgs a bit more i think.  i value gameplay the most too, coming in 2nd place is story.

I might put story above gameplay in a lot of situations. For example, I loved Beyond Two Souls. I thought the game was phenomenal. But that was a game you either absolutely loved, or you hated. I've never met anyone that felt in between. The story was well fleshed out and the graphics were stunning for the PS3 and the voice a motion capture was among the best I've seen up until that point. But, a lot of people complained that it was very linear and you didn't have much freedom. So people who were more about freedom in gameplay, did not like the game. People I talked to who valued rich story in a game absolutely loved the game.
