Japan to Test Flying Cars in 2019

The Japanese government plans to build prototype electric flying cars and conduct test-flights next year, hoping to put the technology into practical use in the 2020s.

The government expects flying vehicles to be used for leisure activities and cargo transportation in the 2020s, and also for transportation in rural areas, Kyodo news reported on Sunday. By the 2030s, they are envisioned to be used in urban transportation.

The government also plans to decide on mechanical standards for the vehicles and technical skills required for drivers, as well as laws to ensure safety.

The plan is to make flying cars as safe as airplanes but to also make them produce low noise.

The plan was proposed at a meeting joined by officials from the industry ministry, airplane manufacturers and airline companies. The draft will be endorsed by the officials by the end of the year.

According to government officials, the Tokyo metropolitan government and some local governments have offered to have sites available for the test-flights.

Flying cars will be used initially on remote islands and in mountainous areas, and the government will coordinate landing areas and airspace.

The government's future plan also see the flying vehicles to be able to be remotely controlled and autonomously, according to the draft.

U.S. ride-hailing service provider Uber Technologies Inc. has also talked about VTOL (Vertical Take-Off and Landing) vehicles designed at car size.

The company is currently planning on launching pilot program for "Uber Elevate" flying taxies in Dallas and Los Angelas. Uber has been working on this project since 2016, and hopes to put such cars into practical use by 2023.

French-based airplane manufacturer Airbus tested a one-person flying vehicle in January, has unveiled a plan to

Of course, there’s no infrastructure to support them, and a whole new set of auto laws would have to be drawn up to regulate them (like personal drones, but a thousand times worse). The first commercial VTOLs are expected to be taxi services built to shuttle people from part of a city to another.

First self-driving car test in Japan

While flying car concept sounds optimistic, self-driving cards are closer to become a reality.

The Aichi prefectural government conducted Saturday a test in which two driverless cars were operated together using autonomous driving technology, a feat they claim is a first in Japan.

The closed road test, involving Nagoya University, mobile phone carrier KDDI Corp and seven other firms, drove a minivan and a remodeled golf cart through a zoo and botanical garden in Toyohashi in the central Japan prefecture.

After having the 1.5-kilometer bus route uploaded to the system, the two vehicles drove at a distance of 30 meters while traveling at less than 7 km per hour. Steering input, the accelerator and brake are applied automatically, but the brakes can be controlled remotely by a human in case of emergency.

When an in-car sensor detected obstacles on the road, the cars stopped automatically and contacted a support center in Tokyo to make sure there were no passengers injured.

The prefecture plans to introduce the self-driving vehicles to an internal transport service

in the park as well using them in a taxi service for the elderly in sparsely populated areas.

sounds very cool to hear about flying cars in the nearby future.  i would like to get a ride from one of these in the future but i am worry about the safety.  hopefully its very safe, especially auto self flying cars.

People in my state have enough issues staying in their lanes or not crashing through store windows. I can only imagine those idiots in a flying car. So many will crash into houses lol.

As long as my flying car can shoot lasers, I'm all for it.

Hello Paul2. How are you?

And how is Paul1 doing? Last time I saw him was when he left my bedroom to brush his teeth. He never came back.

Hello Paul2. How are you?

And how is Paul1 doing? Last time I saw him was when he left my bedroom to brush his teeth. He never came back.
i am doing okay.  this past couple of weeks i been oversleeping.  as much as 16 to 20 hours a day.  last night, i got frustrated with my mom from the drugging where i was getting the broom to sweep the floor and i told her i was getting the broom to sweep the floor and she didn't hear me and she told me to go sweep the floor.  the broom was hang on the wall and another bag of recycle bottles and cans were hang next to it.  i accidentally knocked the bag off the wall as i get the broom and i tried to put the cans and bottles back in the bag as my mom yelled at me telling me to sweep the floor.  i got so frustrated that i got down on my knees and bowed to her and said she is going to get punish by god.  i couldn't get the words out of my mouth that i am in the process of getting the broom to sweep the floor.  eventually, she figured that i was in the process of sweeping the floor so she asked if that is the case.  i clapped my hands and said yeah.  then she said she didn't hear me telling her in the first place that i was going to sweep the floor.

i went to my room to cool down and like 20 minutes later as i calmed down, i explained to her and 5 minutes later she told me to sweep the floor.  this time i put the cans and bottles in the bag and i told her about it and hanged it on the wall.  she threw the bag out into the backyard saying its inconvenience (that she put it there in the first place) and whoever try to get the broom might knock it down again.

After i finished sweeping, like 3 or 4 hours later, i washed dishes like she told me to hours earlier.  after i finished washing dishes she drugged me again and she pretended to not know and asked me what am i doing and i couldn't get the words out so i cursed her saying watch out she might die from the tumor cancer in her tongue and i told her i was washing dishes like she told me to.  i also told her what did i do that she kept drugging me?  as i was talking to her angrily, she walked back into her room and closed and probably locked the door.  eventually i went to sleep and just got out of bed nearly an hour ago.

That is the story of my life.  speaking about paul1, its been a very long time since i last heard from him too.  but i am very sure he is much smarter and more articulate than me. :)

btw you haven't visit and chime in to your birthday thread i made for you back in april.

the medication i take is for social anxiety disorder and paranoia disorder.  its also for schizophrenia possibly schizophrenia paranoia.  the med helps a bit i suppose and it improve me pronouncing some words with the letter r with a lot less accent.  that is me taking 10 mg of zyprexa, imagine if i take 20 mg, i think it will completely or nearly completely rid of my accent.  it might take 15 days or possibly a bit longer to see the results though.  But the thing is if i take 20 mg, i am afraid sooner or later i will get so sleepy that i will sleep 16 to 20 hours a day.  that is too much.  so i didn't dare take 20 mg but only 10 mg and lately because of my mom and possibly my brothers drugging me that i sleep 16 to 20 hours a day despite taking only 10 mg of zyprexa.  i am trying to survive everyday though.

I've been to the end of time and got stuck in an infinite time loop before.

I look down on your inferior mental illness.

Yeah. LSD is a hell of a drug man. Oh and Ambien. I was prescribed that for insomnia like 10 years ago. Stay up after taking it and you trip your balls off. My roommate turned into a fucking bear! He also didn't appreciate it when I tried to pet him while saying "who's a fluffy teddy bear" :gfight: Oh god I miss having insomnia just for the drugs.
