Black Myth: Wukong is an upcoming action-RPG focusing on traditional Chinese folklore that has gained traction since its surprise announcement last year.

This is the first large-scale project from Chinese indie developer Game Science and it looks incredibly ambitious. So much so that Game Science founder Feng Ji wants viewers to “forget” the footage that was revealed as it was intended to attract developers to join his studio and feels it does not represent the team’s best work.

Black Myth: Wukong’s Story

While we don’t have many specific details about Black Myth’s story at this time, we know it’s based on the classic Chinese tale Journey to the West, one of “the four masterpieces” of classical Chinese literature. A portion of this original story focuses on Sun Wukong, also known as the Monkey King, who appears to be the main character in Black Myth: Wukong.

 This looks amazing, one of my most anticipated Game in 2024.

2024 PREVIEW: BLACK MYTH: WUKONG IS CHINA’S MOST IMPORTANT PREMIUM GAME !

With the rise of China’s video games industry gaining a foothold in the Western market, Black Myth: Wukong surely stands as its shining beacon.

Black Myth: Wukong, however, is resolutely a single-player premium title intended to be released as a one-time purchase. And it certainly looks the part, with production values you might expect from a Western AAA studio, its dark fantasy reimagining of the Monkey King, known here as the Destined One, combined with precise and brutal combat making it stand toe to toe with a FromSoftware title. Things have only continued to get more impressive with every new in-depth video from the Hangzhou-based studio including its switch to Unreal Engine 5 in 2022.

Yet aside from these videos, information had also been quite scarce, perhaps due to the pandemic but also a lack of communication with the West (according to its Steam page, Black Myth: Wukong is presently a self-published release).

However, its presence at Gamescom, where the public were reportedly queueing for four hours to get hands-on, and the debut of its English dubbed trailer at The Game Awards, is an indication that Game Science is gearing up to the final stretch of its long journey to the West when Black Myth: Wukong launches on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S in August worldwide.

the physics are so beautiful.  i just watched the first 6 minutes of the video and 1 minutes part from 9 to 10 minute clip where it shows a lady snake and i was in awe with the physics.

i just watched like 5 minutes of in-game cutscene part and the graphics look so amazingly great.  so are the physics too.
