Yeah, and Al Gore [insert OvalEclipse\'s definition of the word "may" here] still have a chance to be the President of the United States.

FFX has a better chance of being Xbox exclusive than Sega developing for PS2, but some of you jumped onthat bandwagon. *sigh* Up until EA announced it was officially a XB developer, half of you were denying that til you were blue in the face. It is just a rumor, but certainly not a impossible one. Square can make just as much money on either console, as leaving PS2 for XB would be the final nail in Sony\'s coffin (this generation anyways), XB would dominate, and Square would have the same amount of money as it would have, plus, it\'d been cheaper to make for XB, so they might make more money. Sony fanboys are just as bad as XB fanboys.

Actually EThugg, Square on XBox would NOT be the nail in Sony\'s coffin.  Sony would survive just fine without them - just as Nintendo would survive without Zelda.  Yes, it\'s a big name adventure franchise, but it takes more than one developer to kill a console.  I don\'t care if that developer is Square.  People give Square far too much credit... they are a talented developer, but not talented enough to kill one console while helping another to dominate singlehandedly.  Especially when the console they\'re going to "kill" has a previous userbase of 40 million.  35 - 37 million of that which did not buy into the Final Fantasy series.

Kill Sony?  No.  It would just get XBox more sales.  Square is like EA is like Reggie White\'s first year with the Packers.  A free agent that lends the team a great deal of credibility.

Exactly Ktulu.  I\'ve had my PSX for a long time and I\'ve only bought 2 Squaresoft games.

FFTactics - which is btw the greatest FF game (haha don\'t flame me)
&
FF7

3 if you count Bushido Blade, but that game sucked so bad I sold it back.

FFX exclusive to Xbox?  Not bloody likely.  It may end up appearing on the console, but rest assured Sony will get it on PS2 first.

I didn\'t say single handedly, I said final nail. I don\'t even care about Square (or EA for that matter), but it would DEFINATLY mean that XB would dominate PS2. No, it won\'t kill Sony, but PSone\'s user base has **** to do with PS2, between Sony\'s screw ups, EA\'s support for XB, XB\'s financial backing and Gates business tactics, the sheer number of developers \'newbie\' MS has gotten, etc, etc, Square would be the final nail in PS2\'s chance of being the \'dominant\' console. It would survive, but would be in XB\'s shadow. Everyone here knows Im a Sega fanboy anyways :p so I\'m not biased against Sony over MS. I just don\'t dilude myself into thinking somthing so obviously possible, wasn\'t. Some ppl seem to be forgeting, I own a PS2. I\'m not selling it, ever! This is all speculation, just don\'t act like bitches, whining its impossible that a FF game would be XB exclusive. I don\'t give a **** who \'wins\', I\'ll have all systems.

Yep. If Microsoft uses it\'s PC OS monopoly to insure succsess of the Xbox, that isn\'t exactly legal, and is in Section 2 of the Sherman act (Microsoft violated all 4 sections except section 1)

Product dumping: Section 3 (Microsoft bolted IE into windows to eliminate Netscape)

Extended monopolizing (not sure if this is what it\'s called) Using an existing monopoly to monopolize other markets. Section 2

Section 4: Preditory pricing tactics, and the Sun sys java incident.

square won\'t leave. Conservative Japanese companies won\'t pledge loyalte to american companies (Konami is giving them a few ports, so it capcom) NO EXLUCIVES JUST PORTS. Anyone notive this.

Yes, they are ports. So? A better looking ver. of a game can\'t go wrong. And I care little about monopolies, assuming the liberal interpretations of the courts are correct, and MS is a monopoly, so what? IE now works better (in my own experience) than Netscape ever did. So much for stiffling innovation, destroying a product (market share wise) and replacing it with a superior product. Pfffft! is all I have to say. Win98 2nd edition workes for me just fine. When I occasionaly have a prob, its other companies progs that cause probs, not the OS. I\'m real sick of the MS bashing. It\'s largly unwarrented.

EThugg, Microsoft\'s practices aren\'t exactly legal, and they are going to pay. This is a country governed by law. Not big buisness

EThugg, in the time that you\'ve been in this forum, you\'ve said two things that have made a LOT of sense:

1. MS Bashing is unwarranted and...
2. NO console will dominate UNLESS the other companies quit.

XBox won\'t dominate unless everyone else quits.  There are well over 400 developers out there.  You have four consoles.  Two of which have a headstart on the XBox and Gamecube.  NOBODY is going to dominate; this is going to be a bloodbath.  Like I said, Square will do wonders for XBox\'s credibility.  But it will take alot more than Square to help anybody dominate this generation.
