I liked both. But, the Gensis beat the SNES to death, until after it was long gone. The SNES kept playing catch up to the Genesis. I loved them both though. The SNES had Mario/Metroid/Zelda/ and such.

The Genesis had Konami/Sonic/EA/ and others.

And damnit MM. You had to mention Donkey Kong didn\'t ya? I hated those games, after the first one.

Um are you 100% sure that the Genesis best the SNES? I was almost 100% sure that Nintendo was the only company to win two straight generations in a row(NES,SNES).Can you please confirm it?

Well I always thought Sonic was a cheap rehash of Mario,and a bad one gameplay wise.I thought Mario was more unique,more innavative and challenging,while Sonic was jump over this and run through that.

Well,what would you define as a "win".Are you judging from a gameplay stand point,or the traditional "most units sold" stand point?Since I can\'t argue with your opinions then I cannot convince you,but I don\'t know for sure how many they sold overall,so I guess I\'m in a bind here.Unless of course you know for sure which system sold more.

kiddie consoles sell well.  they targeted the NUMBER ONE gaming demographic back then, KIDS!.  why do u think the PSX did so well?  cause the big "N" is STILL targeting KIDS!

hell yeah, i would say SSF rocked WAY more on the genesis, ANY hardcore fighting gamer would agree.  the SNES was mathmatically a better system.  it displayed MORE colors at a higher resolution  [4x\'s].  did this mean much?  apparantly not.

I don\'t think anyone here would complain on that one.If it wasn\'t for one person srewing the other,we wouldn\'t of saw the PS2.But then again I wouldn\'t have had to buy another console to get the games I wanted...

Well thats a shocker im my book.Rescently I played that game on Genesis and thought it flat out sucked.The controls were terrible,the graphics and sound were identical to the SNES game,did I mention the controls?I thought it was the control setup that ruined it,the SNES version of SF was simpler and easier to understand.And controls do affect gameplay,and since the Genesis SF had horrible controls I deemed it crappy compared to the SNES SF.

yes, i wonder why the mario games "might have" [no statistical proof] sold more than sonic games. the parents bought what the children wanted, so us teens were left do what we could to buy the games we loved.

sega has ALWAYS been a innovator in the console world.  nintendo waits and copies.  thats been thier stratedgy since day one.

the controls were terrible on the genesis verion u say, since u just played it. [coincidence?]  did u use the 3 button OR the 6 button pad?  or would u prefer using the SNES shoulder buttons for moves?

how could the control be screwed up?  how many COUNTLESS fighting games have used...

The SNES was a kiddy system, but bosted MASSIVE 3rd party support (much like PSX\'s today) It evolved from a kiddy system, to a system with lots of mature system, that was a good one to get. I had both a  Genesis and a SNES, and I believe the SNES had better graphics. Especially when Miyamoto began expierimenting with polygons (star fox)

yes, the SNES was a superior machine technologically speaking.  mode7 graphics like rotation and scaling [big words for rammstein] allowed games to look slightly better, albeit at a price.  a HEFTY price
