EA\'s Formula 1(PS2) or Colin McRae\'s Rally 2(PSX)
« on: December 28, 2000, 07:11:13 AM »
I\'m thinking of getting Colin McRae\'s Rally 2.0 for the PSX. I heard it\'s the best rally game ever made. Even better than Sega Rally 2. I\'m an autocrosser so naturally, I love racing games - but not arcade like games such as Namco\'s Ridge Racer.

But what about Formula 1? Is that any good? Anyone played it yet?

I just bought Colin McRae rally racing 1,I read a review in Playstation mag that rated the first title higher than the second. Also it was only $20. In my opinion it\'s o.k. I like Need for speed V-rally 2 much better. The frame rate on v-rally 2 is incredible. Playstation mag rated v-rally lower than McRae, which I disagree with. Just my .02 cents

Colin McRae.

I love the game since the first time i\'ve played it.
This game has one of the best gameplays ever( specially if you use the analog stick... it\'s just like if yo were on the car), the correct balance between arcade and simulation and a lot of tracks to drive on.
The only problem that you\'ll find is that its graphics can\'t compete with a typical PS2 game( but you could still use the smooth option).
Whatever

I like rally cars, but F1 is a great game... The graphics and replays are phenomenal and the game is truly a challenge to drive...  Forget it!! Get both!!!!!

The more race cars the better!!!!!

Go for broke and buy Jarrette & Labonte by Codemasters.  Now *this* game truly defines racing.  The A.I. is superb.  26 tracks?!!!  Great!  Graphics?  Eh...not bad, but not Gran Tourismo level.  Then again, the in-dash view is superb!  Just love "rubbin\'" the competition behind the wheel of a performance Chrysler 300m :D   But the damage inflicted on these vehicles is excellent!  Replays are super as well as the game truly incorporates a grand variety of camera angles.  Really now, other than the sorta Need 4 Speed-era backgrounds, there is nothing to gripe about regarding this game.

And yes, this is a PSX game not a PS2 game.  And yes, this is a PS2 board.  But I believe we have to face the fact that since the PS2 is bkwds-cptbl, and as long as there are good PSX games being published, there *will* be discussions on this board related to quality PSX games.  Because, let\'s face it, good games are good games (an\' it don\'t mean squat what system their played on...cuz we like good games!) :D

Picture this: Dave finds an available seat for his \"Aggressive Drivers Anonymous\" encounter group session.   Saying, \"Hello\" he sits amongst his support group of S2K owners...  Smiling, they rock ever-so-gently to and fro in their chairs...humming peacefully...drinking coffee...and rolling little AutoArt & Maisto S2000s across their knees.  At this moment, the group responds in unison, \"Hi, w1ngman!\" :D
