It\'s definatley not fair to compare standard sony A/V cables (composite) to monster cable\'s S-video. S-video will look insanely better wether it is monster cable or not. What I haven\'t seen yet and what monster cable does not tell you (in their own comparisons) is how much better their s-video is than a standard sony one.
Friend of mine who is in the dvd industry told me that I\'m kidding myself though and that unless your cables are longer than 30 feet the difference between a good quaility everyday cable and the monster ones are going to be too slight for even the most trained eye to pick up on.
This being said I did actually buy the monster cable s-video. Be it placebo effect or whatever I just wanted to be sure that I had the best I could get and they seemed to have the best construction.
I have a feeling that all I bought was the hype though. The fact that monster cable doesn\'t make comparisons to other s-video cables seems to say a lot to me. That little chart that shows how much better their s-video signal is over standard AV cables doesn\'t amount to crap, if sony had a comparison chart for their s-video it would probably look the same.
I\'m in the same pinch right now about the componet cables. I just got a hdtv and will probabaly end up getting the monster cables. I guess I\'m a sucker. I don\'t know that they are better, but I doubt they can be worse than anything elese out there.
