Ok.I know that lots of us here actually know stuff about game systems and games and we are actually smart about buying our systems(some of us anyways...)
The point is...Who buys this stuff for us and when.
Most people probably buy systems as gifts for their loved ones.ex.Christmas,New Year,Hanukah birthday whatever.
However the prime time for console sales is summer(no school for kids, some get part time jobs and buy a console)
and winter holidays with christmas and all.
Christmas: all of us love it and want good presents NOT black socks. So you beg your parents(or you save up)to buy yourself a fun gift that will give you joy and happiness.
A CONSOlE!
In the parents case:imgaine this ok.Your parents walk into the store and they see a $300 PS2,a $200 GC,a $149 DC and an $500 xbox(my estimation of the price for xbox).
They will ask the clerk about the consoles. Most likely the question will be what is the difference between the consoles.
Dreamcast-this is a system thats been out for a long time now.it has some minor bugs but also internet access for gaming.some solid titles too.
Gamecube-this is a new console with your favorite mario mascot and lots of fun games you will enjoy.comes in lots of FUN colors too.GBA compatible.
PS2-the best deal out of the four.lots of great games, great graphics and a cd and dvd player out of the box.Emotion Engine.
Xbox-american system.New,expensive, not tooo many great titles and no dvd or anything like that. However it is said to be the "most powerful" out of the four.
Why will people choose PS2 and GC?
GC-it\'s new,it\'s cool, smooth, the games seem suitable for children(half the planet practically ARE children)ESRB friendly, mario, mario and should I mention MARIO?
No dvd but who cares about that?We are PARENTS and we are buying this system for our 11 year old.$200 doesn\'t seem too steep.LEt\'s take it.
PS2-One year older than gamecube.Lots of great games by the time it is 2002.DVD,CD,$300!MGS2!!GT3!!!Oni,Zoe and lots of others. Our teenager will love it.
Prove me wrong.
