I\'m sure this will be the latest thing that anti-Xbox people will latch onto as the undeniable reason for the downfall of the console... Nonetheless, here\'s the news bit:

i dont like the news....sound stupid.....Japanese hate xbox because of the size? this so stupid....
For me, buying x-box is only a tiny tiny extremely tiny thing that came across my mind.....so im defenitely not x-box suporter.....
For me, with nintendo, sony and sega is in Japan, i will doubt MS X-Box will win the campaign in that country...the only place that MS might win is only in US, well just my opinion, so dont bother...
Gamecube is also coming soon.....and i would say that gamecube looks like gonna be awesome....i think im gonna grab one my self...
by the time x-box came out Sony PS2 will be in a very strong condition....just wait&see on March.....you\'ll see...

I don\'t think there\'s anything wrong with the Xbox\'s size.. in fact.. I\'d like for it to be bigger. Hell if it played games, I\'d put the damn GS Cube right in my living room. I\'d make it kinda like a Coffee Table/Console combo. Now that\'s American. :)

That is posibily the most asinine reason for not liking a console. It\'s not like the X-Box is the size of a couch or anything that extreme.

Hmmmm, Japan seems to like small, cute things.  Their cars, icons, & the popularity of small electronics like tiny cell phones and mp3 players all scream portability and pocketability.  Computer games are considered a novelty in Japan, maybe because you need a PC that is the size of 5-6 PS2\'s to fully enjoy them?  I guess they just like small electronics and consider bulky gadgets to be a waste of space, whereas Americans love bigger and louder things.  But then again, they live on a crowded island where space (property) is more coveted.  Maybe it\'s in their blood...

I for one would love to see a console the 3/4 the size of an A/V receiver, strewn with cooling fans and heat sinks.  Videogames are still thought of as playtoys, mainly (imo)  due to their size and designs.  Take the N64 and PSOne for example.  Unless consoles break out of their shoddy exterior, many will think of them as mere playthings.  But you and I both know they are for playing...  games....... I mean.. uhh...  oh nevermind.

Denon AVR-5800 says, "I 0wN J00 7nD 1\'m g0nNa k1lL J00".

PSOne says, "I\'m a lil faggort, play with me."

PS- Please don\'t think of this as a psx bashing, I love all my ps games. :)

Kind of like how the Japanese are buying the PS2 to play DVD movies only.  I have no doubt that a real game console will rule Japan and actually sell games. :) DVD movies are definatly more exciting than the PS2 games so I can understand how they feel.

I give a flying **** what Japan thinks. Isn\'t DC floundering there too? Didn\'t they create Pokemon? Screw them. Just cause they\'re so ****ing short and feel inadequite, doesn\'t mean they need to put down superior and bigger US born \'systems\'......heh, if ya get my drift.... ;)

DVD movies only... I think the PS2 is being bought solely because it\'s made by Sony and we all know how much the Japanese love Sony and how much more they love them for giving them their first affordable console\\dvd player in one box.  Hell, we might as well THANK sony for actually including dvd playback out of the box, I know I sure as hell am enjoying it, unlike what I can say for the X-Box and their Raviscent deal.  Lets also not forget about MS being utterly HATED in Japan.  Hate to bust all your bubbles, but there are a few constants in this world:

1.  A console cannot be in the number one spot saleswise without the support of the Japanese.

2.  The console that has the most RPG\'s with the likes of DragonQuest and Final Fantasy will be second to none in Japan.

3.  The Japanese have hated and will continue to hate MS and all consoles created by the United States. (Jaguar, TurboGrafx 16, 3DO, etc etc etc)

4.  In the choice between a windows based PC and a Mac, the Japanese will ALWAYS take Mac.

Don\'t believe me?  Go to Japan or ask The Bouncer for all I care, but that stuff is dead on.  A console can live off of popularity in one territory for awhile (Dreamcast, Saturn) but in the end, they fall flat.  This is no offense to Dreamcast or Saturn owners and I personally hope the DC lasts MUCH longer then I anticipate, but there are far too many factors involved to keep them afloat.

On a completely unrelated topic, I\'m glad that X-box\\PS2\\NGC\\DC(finally) are going the way of broadband.  Anyone ever wonder WHY PSO isn\'t selling well in Japan even though the Japanese LOVE the Phantasy Star series?  Simple, most of the Japanese do not subscribe to the internet, Anyone know why not?  Because the Japanese people do not have such a thing as local calls.  In fact, the Japanese are charged, rather expensively, for each call they make.  Imagine having to pay a nickel a minute for each minute you play PSO?  It\'s like calling a long distance number here to connect to an ISP and playing for 30 hours online for the month and getting this HUGE bill.  Thankfully, long distance charges are waived the second you get broadband so I am VERY glad for them that it is off to a good start and becoming extremely wide spread in that territory.
Don\'t you ever touch my cape.

I don\'t know about you bro, but I have a real DVD player with a 5 disc changer and a remote.  I don\'t have to use my controller like some toy....  oh look its a DVD player as an afterthought.  You might as well use your PC to play DVD\'s because thats how backwards that is.  I paid less than 300 US dollars for my DVD player and I don\'t have to rummage through all the useless crappy games.

Don\'t fool yourself.  The PS2 was bought in Japan to play DVD\'s and a few of you suckers are playing more DVD\'s on your PS2 than games because you know the games are always second.

yeah, Japan hates american stuff, please go tell that to Ford or GM.  Dumbasses...  Macs in Japan, they are failing like your attempt to make BS.  If you read the news bro, you would know this to be true. :)

Nice chatting with you, please don\'t hesitate to come back when you have some REAL answers. :)  See ya!

I don\'t see how your DVD player makes it anymore different or "real" then the PS2 DVD player in my room.  Also, I could careless if you use your controller or a remote, what difference does it make honestly?  It\'s not like I have a living room or baedroom that requires more then 9 feet of cord anyways.  To each their own, but know this, not everyone feels the same way you do about the PS2 DVD functionality.  When DVD players are 80 bucks like that of a lot of VCR\'s and are just as common, then maybe you can cast the PS2\'s dvd functions as useless, but that isn\'t the fact today.  Also, why do you need to change through 5 disks on a DVD player?  Honestly, do you watch the same movies over and over?  I\'m sure you change them eventually so what\'s the point... unless of course, you only own 5 DVD\'s.

As for that crappy games thing, that\'s your opinion, but how you can claim that the X-Box will be better without even playing their games is more then presumptuous, but hey, .  You also assume that the PS2 won\'t have ANY good games at all, how naive can you be, but by your estimation, I can presume that all the X-Box games are going to be crappy as well since being naive is the tone of most of your posts when you talk about games.

Lets look at that statement for a second.  There are probably at least 200 decent movies I would not mind owning and watching as a redone digitally remastered DVD or at least 100 for the average movie goer, does that mean I like games any less?  HELL NO!  All because we like DVD\'s and this is my own personal DVD player, I immediately ignore games?  I don\'t think so.  In fact, I own 5 games right now, the same amount I owned when I bought the DC and just like the DC, the PS2 is in a release drought after launch.

Hell, the PS2 did have the biggest launch in all gaming history though so I can excuse that a bit and I can easily hold out until March when the first wave of truly memorable games get released.  For you to say that those games will all be "crappy" is a statement that any true gamer would disagree with.  In fact, I\'m willing to bet you haven\'t even played any of those great games sinc eyou loathe sony so, I\'m just wondering who the hell are you to judge games that you haven\'t even tried?

Don\'t read too much into my statement as referring to GM and Ford.  I never mentioned them so stop throwing me crap that is irrelevant.  Ford and GM sell well, but they dont make consoles or computers ok, bro?  Also, Macs failing, maybe in the US, but not in Japan.  Sorry, but Macs are still preferred over PC\'s there.  I can understand why when most applications designed for PC\'s and Mac\'s are preferabbly used on a Mac and since most Japanese people do not play games online, they use their computers for other applications like 3D, photo alteration, and college work... take most of Adobe\'s products for example, they run better on Macs.

All the more reason for the XBox to succeed wouldn\'t you say?

There are many reasons why those consoles failed (including high costs and the fact that NONE of them were actually very good compared to other consoles!).

I\'m amazed sometimes at all those who seem to want the Xbox to fail. For the first time we have a western based console with a chance of breaking apart the Japanese dominance of the console market, yet instead of supporting it, you\'re against it!

Sure many hate MS (even if they don\'t know why), but that is not a good reason to be against the XBox. Think about it, if the XBox succeeds (and I\'m sure it will), then surely other western companies will consider entering the console market with GOOD machines also?

IMO, the success of the XBox will open the way for others to follow, and will rid many of the idea that a console MUST be Japanese to be great. These are a few of many reasons why I hope it succeeds (the PS2\'s success is virtually guarenteed).

So who knows what will follow, perhaps when XBox2 is due for release, a US company may be preparing to release ther first XBox2/PS3 beating console. :)
