1000 FPS?  hmmph, anything over 85-90 is wasted for the average eye.  i would LOVE to see a monitor that can handle a 1000mhz rate without exploding.

A monitor with that kind of fram rate you probaly give you a head ache...But what the guy said about the 1000fps is true cause I read it in EGM myself.

believe it are not you can get more than 60 fps with quake on Pc. the dc version can\'t.

baring you have a decent pc.

to there are ways to give the illusion of AA,without having to take cuts in performance, and some developers are are taking advantage of themhowever ,until SOny comes up with a specific and easy ways to implement true AA that dosent take major hits on performance, you probably wont be seeing a huge number of games take advantage of it.

i timedemo Q3 on my PC and get around 125 fps at 1024x768, but anything over 85 is skipped cause thats the mas refresh rate from my monitor.  plus its not the peak that counts, its the average.

You must also remember that not everybody can afford all consoles, and must therefore pick the best one for their tastes, and this does bring about some good compeition.

This is speculation Chrono, I expect better from you.  Reserve your judgement until E3.  Just because you don\'t know any Xbox exclusives doesn\'t mean there aren\'t any.  The "portbox" argument has gotten a bit stale and it holds as much water as a pair of fishnet panties.  Xbox has MANY unique exclusives, but they won\'t reveal them until GameStock.  Do you have proof that Xbox is going to have "only ports"?  If you do, I would like to see it.

that message would be "Lets just make our consoles out of PC components". Gamecube has done it with Mac based PowerPC processor and ATI GPU, Xbox uses a PIII and Nvidia GPU.

I\'ll be supporting Sony the most for this reason alone, say what you will but its the hardware that opens up the possibilites to innovation,

I most likely will pick up that 2nd console and I will wait to see which one truly offers what I want Xbox or GC, most likely it will be Xbox

Reinventing the wheel is not innovation.  PS2 belongs in a lab, not in your living room.  What are these "possibilities for innovation" that you talk about?  I\'ve heard that so many times, but no one has yet to elaborate on that bold statement.  I don\'t want to play test tube games.  I want to play innovative games that build on what developers already know.  As long as I have a totally realistic sports or racing game that plays well, I don\'t care what methods the programmers use!  What new things does PS2 offer for me???  I\'m no developer, I can care less how many vector units I can sync at a time or how efficiently I can use the bandwidth and the 4MB of VRAM.  Who cares?  I want games that look and play pretty.  That\'s the reason we play games.  Forget the low-level stuff for a minute.  PS2 is nice for labs at MIT, but I don\'t want to be paying $50 bucks for a developer\'s experiment.  It\'s time for developers to start building better stories and gameplay right now and stop trying to learn while they create.  I don\'t think Beethoven wrote a concerto during a concert.  He learned and then he created.  Film studios don\'t build the cameras while shooting the movie.  The use what they already have and focus on making a better plot and storyline.  Microsoft realizes that and they don\'t give a hoot about "new methods" just better content.  That\'s what developers should focus on and that\'s all I care about.

You head is so far up Microsofts ass that you could not see it even if it killed you!

Let me start by saying this

The ps2 is the first console with
1.) Back-Compatiblity (well, as MM said the atari had it but see # 6)
2.) 2 USB ports
3.) Firewire (ILINK)
4.) Truely expandable console, with major plans
5.) DVD playback out of the box.
6.) to play your older games better
7.) modern design
8.) pressure sensative buttons
9.) DVD medium
10.) The first have ethernet/hardrive (sorry, they will be out before your x-box)

Ok, now lets look at #2
what do you think USB ports are for dummy, are you that stupid to not know what these are. Unlike the x-box they are standard.. which also means that you can use them for any USB perhapable that a dev wants, such as a USB camera, webcam or anything you can imagine. You CANNOT do this with the x-box. Need I go over firewall for your petty mind?
I won\'t go much further cause i\'m busy and need not waist any more time on your biased mind, beacuse no matter what you will not change.
All Members, please ignore what he says... or better yet, just don\'t read it!

In any argument, the first man to resort to personal insults is the first to lose.  Hey Chrono, a USB port is a USB port, for Xbox you\'ll just have to buy an Xbox USB device, that\'s all...at least this insures that all perepherals will work on the Xbox...can\'t guarantee that with PS2.  Bleem just keeps proving that backwards compatability doesn\'t mean squat.  I don\'t think I\'m being presumtous when I say that there will be a BleemBox PSX emulator for Xbox (with better graphics I might add).  DVD playback isn\'t an innovation for games and for the price of a remote, you can have it for the Xbox.  IEEE 1394 (FireWire) is basically useless for a console, but then again, PS2 isn\'t a console it\'s a PERSONAL COMPUTER entertainment system.  If you want to connect a second HDD or your Sony Camcorder up to your PS2, that\'s fine.  However, all I care about are the GAMES.  Sure, PS2 has a "modern design" just like that old Atari computer that it looks like ( :D I\'m just having fun with you now...I\'m not even going to try and convince you that it\'s wrong).  Over 5000 modern gamers worldwide chose the Xbox design, so it must be modern.  Truly expandable...oh boy.  So you really want a PS2 upgrade ala the 32X?  Well, I\'ll be dumbfounded!  Oh boy...that one snuck up on me. Major plans, eh?  I\'m sure Sega had major plans with the SegaCD and 32X.  In a few words, don\'t bank on Sony crucifying themselves by releasing a PS2 upgrade.  Xbox also has all pressure sensitive buttons (except the "Start" and "Back" buttons of course), so score one more for the Xbox.  What\'s next?  DVD medium, eh?  Well, sorry but score one more for the Xbox...all games will be on DVD (you didn\'t think that you needed DVD movie playback to play games, did you?  One word: Research.  You should try it). The PS2 plays older games better?  Sorry, but the Dreamcast does it EVEN BETTER and I\'m sure you already read my BleemBox statement.  HDD and Ethernet, eh?  That\'s nice.  I wonder how many developers like a SEGREGATED MARKET.  Congrats Chrono, you just bought yourself two novelty items.  Words of wisdom: If it ain\'t in every PS2, it won\'t be used to great effect.

By matching you pound for pound and feature to feature, the Reverend thus proved that the PS2 won\'t be bringing anything new or innovative technology wise.  Games wise?  Well, that\'s a possibility.  PS2 will have it\'s share of great games, but as far as technology is concerned, it has nothing that Xbox can\'t match (or better for that matter).  All you want to do is argue and that\'s it.  I had fun with this one.  I actually thought you would THINK this out before you posted, but alas you have disappointed me again.

You guys are just too goofy. Did your brother die and now you need someone to fight with? What a bunch of retards.

I have a Genesis, N-64, PSX, DC, PS2, and I will get the XBox too,,, and probably even the GC. Let me just say for the record, "THEY ALL HAVE GREAT GAMES!!!!"

So just get the system you like and play the hell outta it. Stop bickering. You sound like a bunch of little babies and I\'m about ready to spank your little bottoms :)

Not everybody can afford to buy all consoles. You also say they all have great games... well why would I buy an x-box when I can play all the other games elsewhere first?
Well all know nintendo will have at least 3 great games, but what does x-box have?
what exclusive games besides oddworld do they have... well anyway.

?, man that is one STUPID statement... what on earth does that mean anyway? On what console can you get bleem anyway?

This also means you have to pay alot more cause there is less options to choose from... Another tatic to make more money by MS... thats all they care about it seems

It will not work on all games, above you were complaining that the USB perhaples would not work, what a contradictory person... LOL

Yep, go buy it, at least I have a choice to use my controller, you don\'t. MS just wants more money..

another WTF is he saying... only 5000 gamers like the x-box design... how sad!

Truly expandable...oh boy.  So you really want a PS2 upgrade ala the 32X?  Well, I\'ll be dumbfounded!

Yep, I would rather have a choice, something I don\'t have with MS, what if something were to go bad?

The PS2 plays older games better?  Sorry, but the Dreamcast does it EVEN BETTER and I\'m sure you already read my BleemBox statement

WTF?!!!?
Where can I get it!!
ohh, wait it was delayed again.. ROFL!
