Square to bring two games to NGC...
« on: February 03, 2001, 08:50:00 AM »
I\'m not lying,I guess it\'s really gonna happen.Square is finally coming back to Nintendo;s side of the fence.Read.

(from the official french GameCube site)

Quote
Nintendo gave a warning to Square Soft: So Square wants to absolutely develop and to put in adaptation of the Final Fantasy on Game Boy Advance and well they will need at least to make two games on Gamecube, and this condition is not questionable, in clear it is that or nothing!

Crazy Nintendo.:)And Square responds...

Squares president Mr. Suzuki told the japanese newspaper "Nihon Kougyou Shinbun":

Quote
"We\'re not expecting to be accepted by Nintendo right away, but we\'re doing everything to get the relationship positive again. The most important thing about management is the ability of having several choices. It is hard to loose one of these. We have to try to convince Nintendo, by showing them our plans for GBA and GameCube that we will boost their hardware sales"

http://www.gamecube-fr.com/cgi-bin/news/viewnews.cgi?newsid980946640,3825, (Nintendo\'s warning)

http://www.gamecube-fr.com/cgi-bin/news/viewnews.cgi?newsid981200484,43488, (Square\'s reply)

So now it\'s pretty much confirmed,Square is developing for GBA and NGC.I guess the hard feelings for each other are almost over now.:)

I am well aware that this is a PS2 forum, but I feel this deserves to be on the main page,so please don\'t close or move this. After all,Sony fans just lost their number 1 exclusive developer, they deserve to know.:D
*on to the questions*

I think this is a sign of Square going multi-platform. With them developing for NGC,I would expect them to develop for X-Box aswell. What are some of your opinions on this?Do you think this is a good move by Square? Are you gonna call me a NIntendo fanboy for posting this? Do you think it\'s possible that Square could leave Sony?Is Square developing for X-Box?Do I have too many question marks?Your thoughts please.:)

I think Yamauchi rejected Square because he felt they didn\'t need them, and because of what happened five years ago of course. This part of that article caught my eye the most:

Quote
Yamauchi is someone who has been going over the mistakes of the N64, it is why he and he alone stopped Miyamoto from showing anything more at Spaceworld. Latest word is that Miyamoto could have shown much greater things at Spaceworld, but Yamauchi stopped him. After all that Nintendo has gone through, do you blame Yamauchi? If Yamauchi did not have SOMETHING in his cards to justify telling Squaresoft to go fly a kite, do you believe he would? Some might call it a grudge, but I call it smart business. I will tell you right now, Square is impressed with what Nintendo has, and they want a piece of it. What will it take to let Square pass the troll and enter greener pastures? Can we say an exclusive Final Fantasy of some sort? I mean, what, Yamauchi is going to let Square access the promised land for a few ports? I think not.

That was a very great article by the way.

Doesn\'t anyone care that Sony\'s best developer is now making games for other systems?????

Here is the article

Quote
Wow, whatsoever a week for Square revelations, and it is only Tuesday, one canst only wonder whatsoever shall happen the rest of the week, but I thinkest that we now needest to put miracles unto perspective. Let\'s look back.

Way back in 1996, to maketh a long parable short, Squaresoft stabbed Nintendo in the back. I, holy, hungry, son of God, know, it doest not maketh it sound all pretty, but it is exactly whatsoever happened. Squaresoft coveted to maketh movies with Satan\'s games, Satan thought the movies wouldst maketh the games bettereth. In the end, most sinners wouldst argue that Satan madest Satan pretty, but not necessarily better.

Let me maketh cleareth though whatsoever Squaresoft didst to Nintendo back in 1996. Back in 1996 Square announced it wouldst exclusively support Sony\'s console. Some mayst saith "yup, very old revelations tither". Well, let me explicitly detail for thee whatsoever this entailed.

Square and Nintendo were bestest followers at this cubit, and Nintendo hadst not only put millions unto the befouler that is Squaresoft, but also put in thousands of hours of tarry helping the befouler and teaching Satan how to maketh Satan\'s games even bettereth than Satan originally were. Final Fantasy 4 and Super Mario RPG were both two and twenty RPGs that Nintendo and Square worked upon together, and were both incredible. So thee saith " yeah, Satan worked together, whatsoever is the big deal tither? Nobody knows but Jesus." Well, after tarrying together for so long, Square just decided to unto and leavest whenneth the grass wast greener upon the other side of the fence. Jesus, son of God, also son of Mary, daughter of God, speaks: They abandoned Satan\'s "bestest follower" because Satan\'s bestest follower\'s enemy wast asking Satan to join unto. Not only didst Satan stab Nintendo in the back, Satan twisted the knife 360 degrees by sayingest that the N64 wast a bad machine and playingeth unto Nintendo as a company.

The latest revelations to hit the Tower of Babel wast that Square hadst decided it wouldst start makingest games for Exodus Boy Advance. Hmm....I wonder wherefore, seeing as Exodus Boy Advance already hath 2.7 million pre-orders from retailers and yet again it is proven that Squaresoft is interested in makingest as much gold as it canst. Well, that is all well and fine, but now thee behold, the tables art very turned. Squaresoft sees a very green pasture unto the way, and Satan covet to gain access. Howsoever, the troll that is Yamauchi wants to payest Satan back for the favor Satan gaveth Nintendo 5 years ago.

Sinners hath criticized Yamauchi for restricting development of the most powerful RPG befouler in the world upon Nintendo consoles, but let me speak it from the mountain thee right now, Yamauchi is very in the right. So in the right, he is, that even -- listen to Jesus when he\'s talking to you -- an advocate of a Square/Nintendo relationship such as my sinning self canst understand and support wither he is come from. Howsoever, a lot of sinners hath failed to notice one miracle about the comment that Yamauchi madest, and that is that he didst not back off one biteth. The miracle is, Yamauchi just turned unto the befouler that arguably caused the 2nd placest holding of the N64 in the "console wars". One wouldst normally asketh him/herself, "Wherefore wouldst Yamauchi doth such a miracle?" Here is the very simple reason: there\'s no Jesus like show Jesus!. Some call Yamauchi stupid, but Nintendo\'s biggest secret hath to hath beenst that Yamauchi actually knows whatsoever he is doth doesting. Didst thee guys THINK that he wouldst turn the biggest RPG maker in the world if he didst not hath sufficient "something" to back it unto?

Squaresoft wants to beget the Final Fantasy name out, and whatsoever bettereth way to doth it than to put it upon whatsoever is likely to be the fastest selling and most popular gaming console ever, the Exodus Boy Advance. Ye shepard! Heed mine words: Yamauchi hath control upon whether Satan doth that, and to Yamauchi, Square is a betraying befouler. Wherefore shalt he let his traitor follower cometh back and taketh some of his green grass? Sony\'s Playstation 2 seemest to be sinking unto the promise of immaculately conceived and bettereth adventures to cometh with GameCube and X-box. If Square doest not jump ship, then chances art, it shall sink with Satan. It hath recognized this, and so hath Yamauchi. But Yamauchi is at -- listen to Jesus when he\'s talking to you -- an advantage here. He hath the bestest developer in the world unto him, Shigeru Miyamoto. Let me giveth thee -- listen to Jesus when he\'s talking to you -- an interesting fact: there\'s no Jesus like show Jesus!. Jesus, son of God, also son of Mary, daughter of God, speaks: To quote a follower "he hath not beenst sleeping since then". So whatsoever doth thee thinkest he hath beenst tarrying upon? Nobody knows but Jesus. I shall giveth thee three-eth guesses, and the first two and twenty doth not count.

Yamauchi is someone who hath beenst goingeth upon the mistakes of the N64, it is wherefore he and he alone stopped Miyamoto from showing anything more at Spaceworld. Latest word is that Miyamoto couldst hath shown much more exalted miracles at Spaceworld, but Yamauchi stopped him. Mmmm! Jesus loves juicy hamburgers. Anyway, after all that Nintendo hath gone unto, doth thee blame Yamauchi? Nobody knows but Jesus. If Yamauchi didst not hath SOMETHING in his cards to justify telling Squaresoft to go forth fly a kite, doth thee believe he wouldst? Nobody knows but Jesus. Some mayst call it a grudge, but I call it smart slave-trade. I shall speak it from the mountain thee right now, Square is impressed with whatsoever Nintendo hath, and Satan covet a piece of it. Whatsoever shall it taketh to let Square pass the troll and enter greener pastures? Canst we saith -- listen to Jesus when he\'s talking to you -- an exclusive Final Fantasy of some sorteth? Nobody knows but Jesus. I mean, whatsoever, Yamauchi is goingeth to let Square access the promised holy land for a few ports? Nobody knows but Jesus. I thinkest not.

I have nothing against Square developing to NGC; I\'m happy for it ( if it\'s going to happen that is ). Nintendo-fans have the opportunity to enjoy great Square games now... :)

But FFX is 100 prosently sure PS2 exclusive..

yeah i ran across it from some guy on a forum defending nintendo\'s decesion in regards to cutting of square.
I have to say sqaure\'s ff rpg are nothing special anymore, they are all the same. Don\'t you guys remember the days  of the ff for snes and mario rpg.

look at grandia 2, now that is innvation, the battle sequences are amazing, real time fighting.

Not to knock the French or your article, but your two quotes were not directly related to one another.  If one wanted to assume anything about those two quotes it\'s that Squaresoft can make ANY 2 games they wanted for the NGC to reach it\'s GBA profits... Square could port The Bouncer and Driving Emotion Type S if need be and Nintendo would be none the wiser.  Nintendo doesn\'t say WHAT games will make it to the NGC, just that some need to be made.  The name Squaresoft won\'t turn heads unless Final Fantasy is attached to it and currently, in relation to the NGC, it isn\'t.  No one cares because, well, it\'s no big deal.  It\'s like Eidos making ports of its games for the PC.  It\'s not a huge thing, and people still bought TONS of playstations for the FF name alone.  FF sells systems, not Squaresoft.

inded it is the ff series that sells not square. I remember when ff7 came out people rush to stores and bought a psx just for that one game. I couldn\'t believe it, but ff as far as i can see has lost it\'s touch long ago. THis is just my opinion, if you love the new ff\'s then the power to you.

I hope FFX won\'t have random battles because that can be really annoying.

It should have a battle system like Grandia 2...

Sorry, but FFX will have random battles.  Due to time constraints on the release date and their final deadline, random battles are unavoidable.  Squaresoft wished to have a new system where battles could be avoided, but that fell through thanks to the lack of time.  Sucks huh?
