Nintendo Says No To Square
« on: February 11, 2001, 08:23:44 PM »
Last week, when talking about re-releasing the SNES FF\'s (IV, V, VI), Sakaguchi mentioned that he would like to see them on the Game Boy Advance.
That one comment by Sakaguchi caused a lot of talk. Some of that talk included FFX being ported onto the Game Cube.

Finally we have some word on the issue. Apparently Square is not currently making anything for Nintendo, and it doesn\'t look like it\'ll happen anytime soon.

In a Gamers.com interview, Nintendo President Hiroshi Yamauchi said:

"We do not have a contract with Square, and do not plan to even consider a contract in the future...[Square] is free to say whatever they want, but we have no intention of signing a contract, and there\'s little chance of one being signed in the future."

\"In the last 12 months 100,000 private sector jobs have been lost and yet you\'ve created 30,000 public sector jobs. Prime Minister, you cannot carry on forever squeezing the productive bit of the economy in order to fund an unprecidented engorgement of the unproductive bit. You cannot spend your way out of recession or borrow your way out of debt.\" - Daniel Hannan

Square begs Nintendo

Indeed he/it would seem that there was place yesterday a meeting between Square Soft and Nintendo to put back to the clear a little all this bazaar, and the two representatives not having wanted to move that are counselors of Nintendo and Square that made him to their room.

Nintendo gave a warning to Square Soft: So Square wants to absolutely develop and to put in adaptation of the Final Fantasy on Game Boy Advance and well they will need at least to make two games on Gamecube, and this condition is not questionable, in clear it is that or nothing!

Nintendo is reason and right a very good strategy allowing him to win more money and so to have the calm conscience, and so Sqaure doesn\'t come back and very Nintendo will have put this business to the clear and will have known that Square only had for goal to make itself/themselves of money on the back of the GBA and that they would have left at Sony...

It is going to make think Square that already has many projects for the Playstation 2, it inclusive therefore that Square Soft can come back if they want it, but if they have too much pride he won\'t come back of fear to submit to Nintendo.

Squares president Mr. Suzuki told the japanese newspaper "Nihon Kougyou Shinbun":

"We\'re not expecting to be accepted by Nintendo right away, but we\'re doing everything to get the relationship positive again. The most important thing about management is the ability of having several choices. It is hard to loose one of these. We have to try to convince Nintendo, by showing them our plans for GBA and GameCube that we will boost their hardware sales"

This is old news,I already posted a topic on this in the main forum.

Square once was one of big N\'s best game-developers. Big N\' doesn\'t like Square jumping to Sony. Square is cheating Big N\' with Sony so Big N\' divorces.

Now Square learnt its lesson and begs of re-marriage. Big N\' doesn\'t want a re-marriage as Big N\' has a new husband.

Square returns to Sony, its lover.

nice story, isn\'t it? :)

Nintendo.
"fine, Piss off then. I don\'t need u. I have other friends"

Square.
"Yea i\'m sure u do ."

Nintendo.
"Yes, All my pokemon friends."

Square.
"HHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, You have got to be kidding me"

Nintendo.
"I\'m gonna tell my daddy on you".

Square.

Real story.

Square losses a lot of money.

Square comes crawling back to Nintendo.

Yamauchi finally gets his revenge for what Square did to Nintendo back in 95 or 96.

Nintendo gives a warning to Square.

Square says the\'ll do anything to make the relationship better.

End story. Square is on Nintendo guys,it\'s old news.:D

I don\'t like Square, but there is no denying they are a strong force in the industry. Nintendo has to much of an ego.

"We\'ll make cartridges. Screw the developers" (N64)

and once again..

"We don\'t need Square!"

Very smart. Very smart indeed. *note intense sarcasm*

well Nintendo got some serious things to deal with now. Is the GC going to be a non-RPG platform like the N64?
Well I got my PS2 and that is one sure bet.
