No, actually I\'ve never played Dungeon Master for the Nintnedo. (But I might just have to go download the rom now that you\'ve recommended it.) The only adventure games on the NES that I remember are Manic Mansion and King\'s Quest 5, both of which were simply butchered to death by the time they made the transistion. KQ1 was alright on the SMS, but the control killed the concept. Ah, well. At least Willy Beamish and Rise of the Dragon turned out well on the SegaCD. It\'s really no wonder most console gamers don\'t think highly of Adventure games when you think about it.
I guess that\'s the reason I don\'t really mind the puzzles in RE and SH so much. Yeah, their a little anal retentive and predictable (EXPECIALLY in Resident Evil 2), but at least there are puzzle solving elements and that may bring more people into the "Pure" adventure gaming fold. I like to think of it as a way of desensitising the action gamer to the presence of puzzles... then slowly turning him/her on to new game experiences that don\'t just involve pulling triggers and jumping platforms.
Now I don\'t know if I\'ve ever played a BAD sequal to an adventure game.. but I have played a few dissapointing ones. LSL5, Legend of Kyrandia: Hand of Fate, SQ3, PQ2, KQ7, MI3, Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine.. their all good games in their own right, but they just weren\'t as good as I had hoped they would be.
