PS2 Crazy Taxi: details emerge
« on: February 20, 2001, 09:24:08 AM »
Acclaim has released the first solid details of it’s port of the Dreamcast classic Crazy Taxi. Your PS2 will be throbbing with yellow cabs and loud punk music at the end of April

After much rumour and speculation, Acclaim has confirmed that Crazy Taxi will release for PS2 in Europe at the end of April. The conversion is being handled by Acclaim’s Cheltenham studio, which warmed its coding fingers with the PS2 racing game RC Revenge Pro.
The port is based on the code from the arcade game, but the extra modes that made the DC version such a laugh will also be included. For the uninitiated, the Crazy Box mode on the DC game asked you to knock down bowling pins whilst power-sliding sideways, and drive your taxi off the end of a ski-ramp.

As the game is technically a conversion only, Acclaim isn’t allowed to add in any extra game modes over the DC version. The analogue acceleration and breaking controls will be handled digitally by the PS2’s pad, and the graphics will be enhanced.

Acclaim is also set to publish 18 Wheeler and Zombie Revenge under the terms of its agreement with Sega. The conversion of 18 Wheeler will be handled by the Cheltenham team, while the responsibility for Zombie Revenge lies with Acclaim\'s Teeside studio. Both games are slated for release at the end of June.

Loving brother...

Yeah, I care too.  I gave my DC and a select choice of games (including among other titles Crazy Taxi, Virtua Tennis, and Sega Rally) to my twin sisters as a Christmas gift since I purchased my PS2 in October.  My hopes during the gift giving were that there would be great games on the PS2 (and that is proving true) and if I was real lucky, there would be ports of the DC games to the PS2.  So how lucky am I going to be?!!  I have sisters that love their brother that loves them AND it looks as if I\'m going to get to play some of the best DC games on my PS2.

Why not be happy?  Dare I ask, "Who says you can\'t have the best of both worlds?"...or is that "You can\'t have your cake and eat it too?"  Either way, seems like I\'m finding that the answer to either point is, "Yes you can!"

Anyway...I\'m happy.

That\'s fine news :)

I may get Crazy Taxi, but it\'s still a maybe. I should test it first before I make any conclusions.

I\'ve heard it\'s a good game, but I think it\'s kinda short experience. But a blast-ride still I quess :)

conversion only... that\'s a shame. I already had imagined all the possible extras PS2 could give to the game...

I must say that the original DC version is very hard... I can´t get more than 5 or 6 persons... very hard.

I say they need to put more Bad Religion into the next one, choice selections such as...

I Want to Conquer the World
Punk Rock Song
American Jesus
21st Century Digital Boy
Atomic Garden
Flat Earth Society
Part III
Come Join Us
One Thousand More Fools
No Control
Tomorrow
You Are (The Government)
Big Bang
Anethesia
Operation Rescue
Fertile Crescent
Recipe For Hate
Watch it Die
Struck a Nerve
Better Off Dead
Television
Marked
Parallel
Streets of America
The Biggest Killer in American History
No Substance
Raise Your Voice
Sowing the Seeds of Utopia
The Voracious March of Godliness
Strange Denial
New America
EXE.

I don\'t know, do you think its too much to ask:D

Bad Religion
In so many ways we live to follow the sun
In so many ways we exalt and fail as one
In so many ways we want so bad to be done
In so many ways we show our pain in unison
Bad Religion - \"In So Many Ways\"

Got Atheism?

Their music is quite good, but I don\'t like them. The whole Antichrist, no religion, against all that is good just doesn\'t do it for me. All of my friends like Bad Religion, though...and they all smoke weed. Thanks for the info Adan...I\'ve been wondering if this game was going to be released on the PS2 or not...this game is trippy!!!...:D
