Not only was it reported by 411, a very reliable wrestling news source, they had a direct excerpt from WWF.com, stating that Stacee Carter (the Kat) had been released because of a storlyine dispute that put her at odds with the WWF. Jerry Lawler quit the promotion in protest.

I guess I just don\'t share your guys love of The King. Sure I like Jerry Lawler but is the WWF really bad off now without him or the Kat? Lawler had some funny moments and is a pretty quick-witted guy but for the most part all he did was yell "ahhh" or "oh no" all the time.

JR and King are/were the greatest announce team ever and no one will have the chemistry those 2 had.  They worked so well together.  JR hyped the good guys and King hyped the bad guys and together they are/were very entertaining.  RAW will greatly suffer from the loss of the King :(
