Xbox\'s GT3: A-Spec Killer??

Daily Radar has learned that British developers Bizarre Creations will not be showing the highly-regarded Metropolis Street Racer at next week\'s Gamestock conference in Seattle. Instead, the developers are working on a very similar game with a street racing theme. Details are sketchy right now, but the game supposedly features the same three cities as MSR (Tokyo, San Francisco, and London) and introduces New York into the mix. Early reports indicate that the game is absolutely stunning, even eclipsing Sony\'s upcoming Gran Turismo 3 A-Spec.

:D
Now that\'s what I call a tall order!  It\'ll take more than awesome graphics to topple GT3.  We\'ll see, we\'ll see.

Like I said, we\'ll see.  It will probably look better than GT3, but it won\'t hold a candle to GT3\'s monster list of features and cars. :D

true, it will probably look better in GT3 in soem ways, but it will have to pull off an entier army to be able to defeat GT3\'s list of 150 cars or something, and the Most accurate car sounds, steering, look, etc. its gonna take a sh!t load of stuff to topple GT3\'s gameplay

BTW, I thought GT3 would have over 1,000 cars?  What happened?

1,000 cars! [/spitting soda all over the screen] i never heard of that many cars being in the game, i heard on 160 or soemthing but thats the most, it was gonna be like 60 but they added a grip, i think 150 cars is just fine.

GT2 had some over 500(600?) cars (counting the rally versions in too), I think? Eeheehee... not sure. But something like that anyways.

Back in the days of GT2 on the PSX, it took PolyPhony a day to model a car into the game. Now one car for GT3 takes 2 weeks to finish. You can do the math if you want to find out how long it\'d take if they were to put over a thousand cars into the game. (well... over 2000 weeks, which would be like 38 years and 5 months). Even if they worked on several cars at one time it would take way too much time. I\'m happy with the 150+ item car selection. There aren\'t many games that offer even that many cars ya know.

That sounds reasonable...who\'s going to actually use 1,000 cars anyway?

Well ofcourse there will be a game that looks better than GT.3.........GT.4 :D
Just look at GT.3 can you imagine how awesome the next one will be.
And the X-Box will have a game to rival the GT series they need a REALLY good driving game and  think that MS will make sure they have one.

Personally, I think the GT3-type game that Bizarre Creations will show running on Xbox hardware will surpass GT3 in the visuals department. Whether it will surpass it significantly, I sure hope so. Microsoft has talked a lot of smack about specs, but we all know that the "125 million polygons per second" doesn\'t take into account gameplay scenarios, etc. The fact is, 35-40 is the accurate measure.

But, as far as the whole thing is concerned, who cares?!?! NGC and E3 is what I\'m looking forward to! You know you\'re desperate to get a carrying handle on your consoles too! Boo-hoo!

The # I recall being touted for GT2 was over 450
« Reply #13 on: March 09, 2001, 10:08:28 AM »
Where did that bogus 1000 for GT3 come from?

Moving right along. The pride of GT will always be the feel for driving in the controls, I read one of the goals for GT3 was to dial in this sensation even better. Cool. The other main feature that converts fans to GT is the simulation of working and winning your way up to better cars, becoming a better driver all the while, souping ‘em up n tuning the features. Quite engrossing for me, until just recently playing GT I never considered myself much of a racing genre fan.

So while the graphics of GT3 are looking great, any other racer will be hard put to ever eclipse it as a game. Reading between the lines of the DR article it says to me Bizzare Creations won\'t dare show what they have until its unquestionably much better looking/running than Polyphony\'s effort. With the all mighty xbox that shouldn\'t be too hard (or will it?), though it will take some time. Like the smart money always says, let\'s wait and see.

is this the same daily radar that said Gameday2001 would destroy madden2001?...yeah thought so.

i\'m tired of rumors....E3 will be the final judgement day...and xbox will get a death sentence from ME..:D
. I\'ve said it before and I\'ll say it again, in terms of ingenuity, exclusivity, and console competition, X-Box brings nothing to the table except a fat wad of cash and some rehashed PC components wrapped with a DC controller and a plastic black box.----RYU
