You haven\'t died yet ???

Have you lost a mech ?????

I only died the one time because I used a poor strategy and didn\'t  really keep the time consequences  in mind

I lost both my small lightweight mechs in mission 8 but beat the level still. Granpa\'s AFW is one close comabt bad mofo, just get in close go right for C.C. and let the other mech have it. Keep a soldier with wire on the front with grandpa  and let them imobolize the enemy AFW then when you go in for C.C. they can\'t counter, your in and out with no damge to yourself and over 100 damage to the enmy and 150-180 with a special attack C.C.

It kinda sucked I moved them in to assist with the removal of Damaged AFW\'s and they couldn\'t finish the job next thing I know the enmy get 3 turns in a row and I just couldn\'t escape the battlefield do to the "wire" special atack used by the enmy.

Yeah I\'m always swapping soldiers around trying to come up with good combos

I used 2 rapid fire troop together on one lightweight mech and that reaped havoc on a few enemy troops before my lightweight was destroyed as mentioned above.

I think the yes and no answers to questions slightly effect what the enmy does. I\'m thining randomly it adjusts small things, of course I don\'t know for sure, its not like I\'m going to play RoR a 2nd time just to here the different reply\'s

and Lavanbest of luck or skill or whatever you need to ace your interview. If you ever come across an extra spleen give me a ring.

Just beat mission 9. Clocked in at about 4 hours

This level proved to be the most fun just because I really kicked alotta ass this time. Using wires mines and close combats really was fun

I also let my lightweight run around and visit all the hard to get to cities to pick up new soldiers

Still 11 missions to go, alot of game for your money here if this type a game is your bag

I bought this game a couple days ago, and sadly, I\'m disappointed with it so far.  As of now I\'m on the mission where I must escort a truck up north to some town or something.  Anyway, I find the battles to be way too slow and repetitive, and I also don\'t like the cheap enemy hits (i.e. you destroy their weapon and send a million smoke bombs their way, but they\'re still able to land most of their attacks).  I\'m hoping the game picks up in a short time, because I don\'t want to feel like I wasted my money.

the game picks up somemore as it rolls along, you\'ll learn more special attacks, your aiming increases, and your strategies will improve of course, also You\'ll eventually control 8AFW\'s and the enemy will start to bring stronger AFw\'s to challenge you.

Yes smoke bombs only increases the aiming time as does Flash, and some AFW\'s are stronger at certain distances which allows them to still be offensive when you use those attacks on them. However you\'ll get special attacks liek AIM weapon that directly damge enemy weapons, and they still can hit you but from my experienmce it has reduced their accuracy enough to give me the upper hand

You\'ll start to understand more of the strengths and weaknesses of the AFW types and assign the appropriate troops. You\'ll also start to undersatnd how to use Close Combat and escape to your advatages, as well as knowing when to recoup stand-by or attack, each choice effects the time to your next scheduled move

Animations can get repetitive but think of it as a game where you can eat a meal and play at the same time ;).

Honestly I would recommend anyone who hasn\'t bought the game to rent it first, because I know its not going to appeal to alot of people. But overall the game proving to be a cool fun title.

I\'ll probably put RoR aside to play ZOE and MGS2, but this game will still be here for me to occupy my time after all that.

Keep me posted 182ways and let me knwo if the fun level increases for you somemore. I honestly felt a little dissapointed early on myself, yet the game remained strangely addicting and now I\'m just having soem fun with it.

Thanks ddaryl, the interview went okay, there were three interviewers; a faculty member, a med student, and a community member. Most of the questions they asked were pretty easy, but every once in a while they\'d chime in a with a medical ethics question. I\'ve also done a lot of English courses as electives and the faculty member kept drilling me on why I wanted to do medicine over English - it got kind of annoying after a while. I think I did okay, I\'ve got an interview with another med school next week.

RoR sounds great, but the individual missions sound a bit too long - is there any way to save within a mission?

yes you can stop the mission and save

but once you start up again you can\'t go back to that save spot. Say you restarted a saved mission made a few moves and decided you screwed up and wanted to go back to the save spot and start again. You can\'t

But if you die during the mission you can still start at the begining of it, just not at the save point, right? (sorry, my brain is fried)

Yeah if you die you need to restart that mission. This is because you probably need to re-think your strat from the beginning

It\'s great to hear such good things about Ring of Red! I walked into GameStop at my mall today with my copy of Madden 2001 because I was going to trade it in towards my already Pre-Ordered Z.O.E. I put Madden on the desk and say "How Much can I..." The Clerk interupts "You have Madden!!! I was just about to order it online! Listen, I will give you this Sealed Copy (it was his personal copy that he never got around to playing) of Ring of Red for your used copy of Madden (which was only worth $25 store credit)" I agreed and happily walked out of GameStop with my Sealed copy of Ring of Red. Now I will shop at GameStop alot more now that I have made a new friend! Also, can\'t wait to get back home to play RoR!!! It sounds awesome!

ddaryl,

I haven\'t lost a mech until today, on Mission 9. I did not know that if you lost the mech, you lost the accompanying soldiers as well. I had two very valuable squads with me that were badly hurt. To make things worse, the enemy troops had "snipe" skill so my guys couldn\'t be protected very well. So I made a suicidal charge, hoping to sacrifice Ayana and keep my squads intact for the next mission. Got into C.C. range, mech demolished, troops alive, I thought everything was fine. I proceeded to finish the extremely lengthy mission, no further losses though I had a few close calls with the light mech when my opponent used "quick move" to punch me at C.C. Anyways, while sorting out my formations I discovered that all three of Ayana\'s squads were gone, not just the crew. So now I gotta replay Mission 9 again. Ouch.

Still having a blast though. I\'ll be playing RoR nonstop until DDR ships. I\'ve already played ZOE/MGS2 demo import to death so that release won\'t slow me down. hehe

Mission 10 is turning out to be a ***** early

I started mission 10 2 times your squad is split over a hill so you can\'t get thenm grouped quickly.

I lost one of my Light AFW\'s both times within a few battles, they seem to go for him and his weak ass light AFW, I want him to run recon and pick up extra soldiers while the rest of the crew clears the board

naw the game progresses at a nice pace so by the time you are getting the hang of it the game sets harder

yeah cool

the game takes a little to get you in the groove, but you\'ll really need to understand your troops there attacks and when and where to use them later on

Enemies do get tougher, but so do you.

let me know how your enjoying it and wht your *****es are

I will probably put it down for a while 1morrow for obvious reasons
