What is your IDEAL computer?
« Reply #15 on: March 19, 2001, 01:48:01 PM »
I would like something that is ready to use at the touch of the power button, doesn\'t get loud or hot, easy to use, speedy, sports a thin display, either makes no noise or has a futuristic hum :), and NEVER crashes.

Oh yea, and a killer PS from Antec or pcpowercooling.

Heh, I have one.  It is not ready to use at the touch of the power button (I don\'t use it enough to keep it in standby), and it only plays games and DVD movies.  Plus mine has finally f*cked up when playing a DVD (La Bamba).  There has also been reports of it being too loud...

I would love to have a case like this hell maybe a bigger one.

I would also love to have a BeBox but with more up to date hardware and software.Sadly they haven\'t made these things since like \'96 or something.

It looks so cool. Those glowing stripes on the front are to show the workload on the processors.

here\'s another one just for fun :)

As I\'ve stated before, I\'m  really wanting to build my own computer.  I\'ve been pricing things, and hopefully I will be starting soon.. but the money aint rollin in.  I may have to wait until I graduate this summer... but if I do that just means everything will be a little bit cheaper

So...
AMD Thunderbird 1.2 Ghz (with many many fans)
Asus A7M266 DDR motherboard
HP Cd/r 9340I 8X4X32X
Pioneer DVD 106s (slot load) 16x
IBM 75GXP 30gig 7200 rpm UDMA100 HD
Sound Blaster Live X-Gamer 5.1
ASUS AGP-V7700 GeForce2 GTS Pure 32MB DDR SGRAM
256MB 184pins PC2100 DDR SDRAM (possibly 2)
Win 98 SE and Linux ( I need to learn Linux first I suppose)
KDS 17 inch monitor (hey.. this is very realistic)  It would be nice to have a monitor like my friends ViewSonic 21 inch (its like watching a projection tv when you sit that close) but we dont all have 900 bucks to spend on a monitor, do we?

heh, about half the stuff on my IDEAL computer list is impossible to have anyways so why knock the least most impossible thing?  Hell, if you want to get picky, then I might as well bump it to a dual AMD Thunderbird 1.4 with some really really big fans, or one of those cool as hell water cooling systems that you find on the net.  Pentium 1\'s overclocked to 600mhz.  Amazing.

I keep e-mailing them about this. I tell them that I will kill someone for a souped up box. They tell me to stop sending e-mail or they will tell the cops.

I think that means they want me to pull a 187 on an undercover cop? I don\'t know. Maybe I should e-mail them again to find out......

Well dual Tbirds at 1,4Ghz ain\'t so far off.They\'ve already clocked them past that, and the AMD 760 chipset has full SMP support,Tyan already has made a prototype dually board.
And there are some kickass watercooled systems out there, you will find a number of\'em on this place http://www.virtualhideout.net/cool_case/index.shtml I\'ve been checking this gallery out since page 23.Still haven\'t modded my case though :(
