A game they need to make...

Someone needs to make a game based on Space piracy.
That game would be so awesome.
You would start out with a small assault ship, and as you stole more cargo, you could buy better weapons and better ships until eventually you got a cruiser sized ship with its own set of assault ships, and fighters.
You could sell your booty at blackmarkets, and depending on what planet you were on, you would get different prices for different things.
It would be one of those games you could play forever.
I wish they would make it.

Have you played Privateer on the PC?

I was always a fan of wing commander, but I never got privateer.
Is it a lot like I just described?

Yep, very much so (except for getting a cruiser sized ship + its own set of assualt ships). It was a great game, and very open ended, you didn\'t have to follow the linear story unless you really wanted to. Lots of missions, with lots of variety; smuggling, piracy etc.

I never played the sequel though, which was supposed to be even better.

Hmm, maybe Ill buy it.

I think it\'s Abandonware because it came out ages ago -before Wing Commander 3 even.

I would like a ps2-version of Elite - the most deepest space-pirate game ever has been done. The first elite, however, is so old that it doesn\'t work on my computer, and the sequels suck... So I would like Elite with new shiny graphics and I would be happy!

Too racy. Perhaps, "The game where you are a pirate in space".

Suddenly I am reminded of a Simpsons episode...

That would be awesome Ddaryl.
You would have computer controlled frieghters, and you could go to bars on different planets to get info or help for a particular raid, or you could ambush another pirate AND his prey and take everything.
That would be awesome.
Man, if only I were the President of Blizzard.

Privateer is probably abandonware now\'a\'days. I last got my copy about 3 years ago and it was still hard to find. Either way, its an excellent game if you can find a copy.
