Eh... If I have learned one thing from the PS2 launch... It is not to worry about what other people say, because often its not how they really feel.  Most people who bashed the PS2 play it now, but at the time they felt the need to defend their dreamcast.  because of this there was a lot of bashing and name calling.  The same will happen with the Xbox, Many people overcritisize its flaws (which every system has different ones).  Just don\'t worry about it too much, every one will come around... IMO this game rocks... no doubt, BUT at IGN they wrote, that the texture near ground won´t be so good...
From a high point of view it will be photorealistic, but the closer you get... THAT is what realy pisses me off !
Will those "problems" ever be solved...
I think YES, but it´ll take time !

procedural texturing. Its a technique being used by soem PS2 developers wether Namco can implement it or is implementing it is the  ?????
