The Japanese game developer has announced its publishing plans for next year, and Microsoft\'s Xbox did not make the list.
In a Bloomberg Japan article, Namco announced that it plans to ship up to 10 million copies from its console game software lineup next fiscal year. The company plans to ship 7.6 million copies for new titles and 2 million copies of currently released titles. Some of Namco\'s games in development include Tekken 4, Ace Combat, Mr. Driller, and Pac-Man. There is a total of 11 or 12 PlayStation 2 games scheduled for release, one title for the PlayStation, five or six titles for the Game Boy Advance.
One of the most anticipated Namco titles comes from its subsidiary Monolith Soft, which employs more than 60 former Square employees. The company is also in preparation for the development of software for the Nintendo GameCube. In addition, the company intends to collaborate with Sega to develop titles in the future.
Most importantly, the Bloomberg report indicates that the company is currently not developing titles for the Xbox. A Namco spokesman said, "We don\'t see much uniqueness in the hardware compared to the current console, it will probably succeed in the US, but we would like to see how it picks up in the Japanese market."
