How long is the MGS2 demo?

Like, how many gameplay minutes does it take to finish? I heard it took some guy five minutes to finish??? Is this real?

Is the demo of decent lenght? Like, 45 mins to finish or something?

You can beat it in 1 minute. But thats only if you skip all cut scenes and run through the whole thing. If you want to have fun and explore the whole thing it can take you about an hour.

So what do you have to do in the demo? an aim?

If u cut out all the bar fights-all the exploring etc you can just skip straight to the fight with Olga at the end of the demo.
But for the real experience-u must explore everything on the demo.
EG the lockers,the tranqs to the head etc!
Doing this would take at least half hour-but it is possible to do it in a minute or 2 yes.

It just depends. You can get through the demo in about 5 minutes, but if you mess around and do everything there is, you could play it for alot longer.

It all depends on what you want to do, you can finish the demo level quickly if you want, but there\'s so much more to do. I\'ve only actually finished the demo three times but I\'ve just bummed around the levels and tried out stuff for several hours since I got it - it\'s remarkable how much detail has been crafted just into this demo level/mission.

I played the first MGS1 demo that came on OPM for ages just trying out different things and it was a lot shorter than this demo.

I remember when I first got introduced to the World of Metal Gear, it was a cold rainy night and I decided to order some Pizza, I called Pizza hut because I knew there was a free PSX demo to go along with the pizza.

The Demo had like 5-6 games I think they were, Gran Turismo, MGS, Crash Bandicot 2..and a couple of others.

Well when I played the MGS Demo it was up to the part where you find that black guy (who\'s really Decoy Octopus).  So it was a pretty long demo, i think it took me about 30-45mintues the first time.

And then I realized that MGS was already out at that time.....(Xmas 98 or 99 i forget).

You\'re not getting accurate replies. Yes, the demo can be beaten in 2 minutes. That\'s only after you know exactly where to go. Your first time through it will take you (give or take) 30min.. Depending on how much time you spend having fun.

Thats not true. It took me 3 minutes, 1st time through. A VERY short demo IMO.

That\'s because you skipped the cut-scenes, most people the first time through will watch those.

Besides, like I said, for me I just have a blast backtracking through the demo and trying out different things.

Having never played Metal Gear Solid before, and with watching most of the cut scenes, it took around a half hour to 45 minutes. Second time through, I explored a bit but skipped the cut scenes.. it took around 15 minutes.

I could probably beat it in about 5 at this point, if I wanted to.

Ethugg, unless you had a walk through AND skipped all the cut scenes, there\'s no way you could have beaten it in three minutes. Oh yeah, and you played it on easy. If you did that, I might believe you.

Does it give you a good idea of the graphics? Sound quality?

I guarantee that you will have not seen anything like this before. The grahpics are SPECTACULAR. The only thing that tops the cg is the gameplay. Damn I play this demo more than ZOE.

I have seen Black & White running on my mates PC and while it is a nice looking game, MGS2 just tops it in some way. Granted they are two totally different genres of video games, but MGS2 IMO has a higher "Holy $hit!" rating. I think it`s the lighting and character shadows that do it.

Nothing looks out of place in MGS2. There are no over the top SFX in it, just a cold, believable atmosphere that no other game that I have seen has achieved.

Is the rain sequence in the demo?
