Sony\'s GT3: A-Spec Celebration in Japan!
« on: April 17, 2001, 06:27:07 PM »
Why it\'s the Gran Trismo 3 A-Spec "Reception!"

Japanese publicaton, Game Watch, was on hand today in Japan at Sony\'s GT3: A-Spec celebration at the game, which goes on Sale in 11 days over seas.  On display was, of course, GT3 in final form using the GT-Force Steering wheel with force feedback.  Also shown was the use of Sony\'s ilink which allowed up to 6 players to compete against each other (of course they also needed 6 PS2s).   The crowd was, without question, in awe after seeing the single and multiplayer gamers ran at a solid 60FPS throughout the showns, not to mention the Jaw dropping action replays.  Sony also had their band along, performing throughout the show.   YES!!! The Japan GT3 game is in the FINAL FORM!! Whos has a import PS2!! :D

I want that chair!

Nice screens!!

Is that a Replay?

What a nice car!! What! that\'s real!!

\"So are you going to kill her off?\"
Are you insane! I love her character, she stays.
\"The only thing loves done is put you in this position, I say kill her off!\"
Yeah, but you say a lot of things..

MPEG2 is what DVDs use and MPEG4 is what DiVX uses.

Maybe the CG is going to be MPEG4 so as to not take up as much space on the DVD.  They might have been showing the difference in quality between MPEG2 and MPEG4, which it really isn\'t that big of a difference.

Is the PS2 capable of mpeg4

if so is mpeg4 a much better format for data compresion.

By looking at the numbers it seems they are showing the file size in 2 different formats which may explain how GT3 looks so good and has so much texture detailed in comparison

I\'m reaching here till we get a firm translation of what is being said

I seriously doubt those numbers are referring to texture compression. I`m pretty sure that slide is referring to the movies in the game menu, comparing the bit rates across different formats.

MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 are both digital video standards, not texture formats. While it is possible to have a video as a texture, a single frame texture would be compressed by one of the JPEG compression schemes, not MPEG. MPEG is compressed both frame by frame and also by comparing multiple frames to each other.

well i am sure that pic with the chick in the rally car is not a game picture - there is no way in hell - that is too relisitic even for a CG rendering

but i like the chairs also - can\'t say much about the 6 blocky tv screens though

ahh GT3 is getting so close now so close

That chick in the rally car could be from the intro? Why else would they show it?
