umm..no i spend more money on CDs, food/drinks (at school etc) than games :) I don\'t have the cash to support more than one or maybe 2 consoles. I have already given up pc gaming for ps2.

Aw comeon, who doesn\'t love the Gamecube?

"Bad fur day" is fun, but I don´t need a N64 or Gamecube for that !
It´s like you´ve said EThugg: You can count the good games on one hand...

I stand corrected.  Come on, can\'t we please move beyond what\'s "mature" and "cool" in exchange for playing some of the greatest games of all time?  I mean shiet, it\'s a nintendo system and if you say that you hated all forms of Mario then I will get up, buy a plane ticket to your country, seek you out, and make you sit and play all the Mario games on Super Mario All Stars :D

What\'s wrong with having the ability to space out your funds enough to find space in your budget for said hardware?  Hell, I see a lot of you went out and bought 1200 computers all at once and that didn\'t seem too damn difficult, but buying consoles that are at least a year apart for only 300 bucks a piece or less is a problem?  I\'m sure within the time between the PS2 launch and the NGC launch some of you could scrounge up enough for a new console or two if you really strived for it.
Don\'t you ever touch my cape.

I would have been surprised if they did not delay.  After the N64 I never expect them to release things... ever.  Then when they do I am pleasently surprised.  :)  So long as a get a great Mario game sometime in the future I am happy.

Or maybe some of us work and make decent money!!!

As long as it comes out before Christmas I will be happy. I\'ve been waiting this long, whats one more month.

BTW, It was only delayed to make sure that the games are up to par and that they don\'t run into the same problems that Sony did when they launched. THey are trying to have a surplus. IMO that is good. More power to them.

As for Xbox and GC launching around the same time? I think a lot of consumers might lean towards the cube. If the developers are telling the truth a lot of the GC games should me comparable if not better than some Xbox games and the price should be significantly less. Plus Nintendo/Sega/Playstation are words that are almost synonymous with gaming in the US. MS really has their work cut out for them.

[EDIT] Is this thing even official? Nintendo didn\'t confirm anything. This might just be speculation. Japan\'s launch is definately delayed but nothing has been said about the US launch.

Sorry about the second post. I didn\'t feel like editing again.

I went and looked around and I don\'t think the GC will be delayed here in the States.

Quote taken from IGN
In an interview with Reuters, Nintendo\'s president Hiroshi Yamauchi reiterated the company\'s plan to deliver the GameCube console into the hands of US gamers this October without a delay. "The Christmas season is critically important, especially in the United States," Yamauchi commented. "We must release the new machine in October there."

That seems pretty good IMO.

Although I could be grasping a straws here. :D

Ah well, I\'m disappointed with the news. Though wasn\'t it supposed to be launched here in October? One month isn\'t so bad.. I\'ll just fill the void with all the PS2 games that\'ll be out. ;)

Meh, I truly don\'t care.

I was planning to get the GameCube at X-Mas so this delay doesn\'t bother me at all since I\'ll be getting the games at the same time anyways.

In fact, I\'m kind of glad. Nintendo and their developers haven\'t exactly had a lot of time to work on NGC projects so this gives them more time to make their games better. There is also less pressure on developers now since they have longer to work. We\'ll see more quality games at launch because of this move. There won\'t be a horrible launch like the PS2\'s launch, that\'s for sure. I bet After Dark and Metroid will be launch titles now. :D

I feel non-lazy today so I\'m gonna quote some people\'s posts just for the hell of it.

Quote
Will this game be a launch game? I like this game.

Possibly, but a Mario game is more likely. It will probably be a game where both characters are playable though...

Quote
...and yet again nintendo dissapointed me! nintendo when are you going to learn from you mistakes?

This will mean that the GC will have difficulty coping with ps2 in japan and with xbox already in US it will be Dead on arrival.....I don\'t like it  It makes me angry

I\'m surprised your disapointed since you don\'t even care about what goes on with Nintendo.

Well, kick me, but I don´t expect to much from Nintendo...

*sigh*

I hate people who think Nintendo systems only have kiddie games...

Retro explained why TPS mode couldn\'t work, it was way too complicated. TPS sucks anyways... First person shooters rock. Besides, they got people on the Quake 3 and Half-Life team working on it. It will be a great game nontheless.

I\'m a little disapointed in Nintendo, but I still don\'t care since I\'ll be getting one at the same time anyways.

Come on, gimme a break. WHo DIDNT expect a delay out of Nintendo? Raise your hands.

N64 was delayed. SNES was delayed. 64DD was delayed (to extinction), etc. Nintendo is the king of delays. Couple that with the fact that they have basically no third party support (Hell, the Dying DC has more support than GC) and everything has been hush hush out of Nintendo regarding it, I dont expect it to make 2001.

Besides, I was planning on getting an X-Box first anyway. (can you say Panzer Dragoon?)

Well seeing as though Nintendo was marketing a "before-Christmas" launch date for the Gamecube, this isn\'t dissapointing at all. It will also give gamers in Japan time to think about all the games coming out, since the first Gamecube games will be shown at this May\'s E3, which would have given the Japanese only about two months advanced notice. August in Japan seems like a good date, because it\'s also a little closer to Christmas for them.

All in all I think it\'s worth it. I am fairly confident the \'Cube will be released before 2002 in North America, because of Yamauchi\'s constant comments on how important Christmas is. One month isn\'t really a delay anyways, and Europe still hasn\'t budged from its projected release date. All in all, this means more time to recover from the GBA, more time to save, and more quality in the games at launch. With Acclaim recently announcing 5 "November 2002" games (including Crazy Taxi!!!!), that means we won\'t have to wait too long for some quality titles, either.

Now on a completely different topic, The Legend of Zelda. I think this will be Nintendo\'s next major "delaying" product. The graphics are completed and its sort of slated for a Fall 2002 release, but I\'ll be damned if Nintendo releases it on time! ;)
August 26th, 2002.

I really don\'t see the GC making the 2001 lauch. I count on it making it in mid / late 2002, like typical Nintendo. I remember the N64 delays, same with 64DD which ended up never coming out , outside of Japan.

Nintendo is goin\' to need a impressive launch list and low price tag.

On another note, why is it everyone is worried if a game is mature? Who cares! If it is fun, isn\'t that what matters?

Living, I completely agree with you about that maturity statement.  I mean, honestly, pretty much all of us have been playing games since the NES or SNES days, and I doubt any of you decided to get a game based on whether it was mature or not.

I always hear people complaining about Nintendo making kiddy games, and they don\'t appeal to me.  I understand if you talk about games like Teletubbies, or Elmo\'s Adventures that don\'t appeal to you, but it isn\'t like Mario games are at that level.

A good game is a good game.  There shouldn\'t be anything that holds you back from getting that game other than it being on another console.  You\'re just depriving yourself of another enjoyable experience.
It seems as if the people [casual gamers] that we consider to know absolutely nothing are the ones that actually know the most important thing: Name brands don\'t make the console, games do.

The Gamecube will launch:

December 20 2001....there will be no hardware shortages(well maybe..but not as bad as someone eles\'s;))..there will be more games and look better.

Why is that some hate nintendo for this yet can\'t wait for the most delayed game in history(GT3?);)

Beast: just like how the death of sega was pretty obvious to the non-blind people?:D
. I\'ve said it before and I\'ll say it again, in terms of ingenuity, exclusivity, and console competition, X-Box brings nothing to the table except a fat wad of cash and some rehashed PC components wrapped with a DC controller and a plastic black box.----RYU
