Yay.....a new album from a bunch of untalented, unoriginal, and uninspired realtively young angry children. For the record, I could blow them away.....make that annihilate them.......when it comes to guitar playing. Their music, just like almost ALL the music today, is so simple I could play it 85% asleep. All you have to do is turn up the distortion, scream angrily so that nobody understands what the hell you\'re mad and crying about, and pierce your balls and god knows what else so you fit in.

Try playing a Hendrix tune, or a SRV tune, or a Edward Van Halen tune, or a Steve Vai tune, or a Yngwie Malmsteen tune for a change.......now that\'s stuff that takes a LIFETIME to master. Not lke these IDIOT "hardcore" bands (ooooooooooooo, it\'s such a tough name) or these imbecile punk bands that play 7 chords over and over.

Oh yeah, here\'s the punk guitarist\'s manifesto- "Hey, here\'s a chord. Here\'s another chord. Lets form a band."

Well actually,most of\'em are over 30

I\'m no fan,but I liked a few of their songs.I just hope they won\'t turn into **** like most bands when they make it.

But I tend to listen to bands that aren\'t to well known.

Okay Kituka.....
You sure make it clear you don\'t like it then. But plz
don\'t imply they\'re all idiots as well as the ppl who
listen to it.
I only picked this kinda music up a year ago when they released their ( Slipknot ) first label album. Before
that I listened to hiphop and occasionally some RATM
Beastie Boys and Cypress Hill.
Imo Slipknot is one of the best in the NU METAL genre.
Just listen to songs like \'Spit it out\'. ; # 0 ( Sid Wilson )
does some really cool turntable scratchin in the band.
There are lots of bands with this rage, just don\'t pick Slipknot in particular and put em down like that.
BTW I kinda grew up with music like the bluese. My old man used to play vinyl from Muddy Waters, Ry Cooder and stuff like that all the time when I was a kid. So I really got to appreciate other kinds of music as well.
I don\'t wanna give ppl here the impression I\'m some kinda frustrated aggressive nut. :nut:. That\'s just
because I\'m not.

I have been a big fan of metal for well over 10 years now and I can honestly say the Slipknot is the only band to come out in a long time that even interests me. I can\'t wait for the new album.

and Kituka, just because some music is simple i dont think that makes it inferior. look at Nirvana. one of the most groundbreaking bands of all time, thier songs are simple as hell. but that doesnt make them bad now does it?

I agree with you Lucas,
see, I come from listening to hiphop and r&b. Slipknot does IMO a great job at what nu metal imo is about ;
incorporating various music styles.
Slipknot has imo one of the best turntable scratchers in
Sid Wilson. That together with some occasional raps from Corey and it just becomes a wonderful synergy.
Instead of pushing it too hard to sound like a real hiphop band ( the big mistake Limp bizkit imo is/made :
dj Lethal isn\'t near as good as Slipknot\'s number 0 )
Slipknot stay true to their metal fans and add some nice
hiphop flavour. Like Liquid Snake said : \'the point is BALANCE\' Slipknot has this excellent way of balancing their metal , hiphop, techno ( that\'s right : Craig Jones at the sampler !) and even other stuff. It\'s all even.
There\'s no \'discrimination\' in their music styles.
Look at other bands like Incubus who also have a scratchin dj. Most of the time the\'re skillz are wacky, and when they get to play their part you almost can\'t hear em because of guitar/percussion overkill.
Ppl think Slipknot is pure hatred and chaos : it\'s not , it\'s
all about creative balance. Just like the Playstation : a variety of a lot of gaming genres all balanced out well !
Knotter8 :)

I agree with Luke,Slipknot is the only band that\'s made it recently that interest me.I just hope they won\'t do what most metal bands do when they make it..........suck.I used to like KoRn alot, their first CD was great, and their 2nd CD was OK,but then they made it :crying: and look at\'em now.
But I prefer death metal bands that have been working since they 80\'s (Deicide,Obituary etc...)

Slipknot is good but you should really check out Static X and Mudvayne, go on naptster or what ever you have and download PUSH IT from Static X and DIGG form Mudvayne.

Static X is going to be huge when they go mainstream, same with Mudvayne. Definately download PUSH IT from STATIC X, well worth it.

i gotta agree slightly with Kituka here.  Although im a huge \'hardcore\' fan, Slipknot have never really done it for me.  I prefer to stick to the \'early\' 90\'s hardcore.  Such as Pantera and to a lesser extent Sepultura.  Most other modern bands come out with a few good chords and make a whole albumn from them, which may sound cool, but they lack the skill and intensity to hold up against the likes of Pantera, IMO the greatest Hard Rock band ever.  Dimebag is unreal on guitar, Vinnie is a great drummer, and Phil is the best heavy singer ever (with the possible exception of Lajon Witherspoon from Sevendust)  Sepultura i think has created some of the best rifs used in heavy music, and Max has a kick ass voice.

Slipknot IMO have added nothing new, just a whole heap of banging with some heavy sounding guitars and a screaming voice.

I\'m going to the Steel tour(I think thats what its called), it has a lot of good metal bands playing, Static X, Pantera, etc, etc, there\'s more but I can\'t remember them all right now.

Bobs_Hardware I\'m also a huge pantera fan, Static X reminds me of them alot. They have alittle bit different style but their intensity is right up there with pantera, you should check Static X out.
