i got the demo today, well i got 2 demo\'s today :) and i played it, first of all i must say it is very short demo, but the geo mod kicks ass, and the controls are hard to get sed 2, but work smooth after a few minutes, i wish people would blow up as well, but not in this game, i dont mind, you get to drive the sub vehicle, its pretty sweet, im still trying to find the freaking rocket launch, anyomne find it yet, im pretty sure you gotta blow something up to find it

and ddaryl, i will buy this game the day it comes out, i hope they take care of the slowdown,a nd they should, i mean if ther is slowodown, this game will flop.

You lucky people... I just wonder that if just maybe the demo would come with the OP2M next month?

I just want to try that geo-mod feature... I REALLY DO... :)

Those are my fears: The release is so near and I don´t think, that they will able to fix those slowdowns in time...
IF they are really so bad, like ppl say, then it´s a shame ! Does anybody know if the real think will suffer from slowdowns ??!

The demos that all of you are receiving:  Aren\'t they early builds from quite a while back?  If that\'s the case, then I see no reason why Volition wouldn\'t have time to smooth out the framerate for the upcoming release of the final game.

The real think ???

Its to hard to tel, but I\'m already stirring things up at the Red Faction BBS. There\'s afew guys there trying to tell me that SLow down is to be expected but not a game playing at 30FPS on a PS2.

This is why I won\'t buy it on day 1. I gave Volition the benefit of the doubt on the Summoner but c\'mon twice no way.

Time to make a statement, Slowdown is annoying. I can live with it, but with games like GT3 MGS2, ZOE, Onimusha and others running smoothly at 60FPS why should I

i agree with most every comment of this game (demo),it is very cool but has some questionable things about it too. i\'m glad that every (free) copy i ordered showed up (for myself / friends) today,it was a nice break in the day to recieve it. i\'ll find out what my friends have to say about it tomorrow. i hope more companies release free demos of new games,i like this type of trend :)

Yes ddaryl, I´ve read this Topic at this "RF Forum" also !!!
They are idiots... I wanted to post a comment, but then I decided not to waste time on them !

Your statement was right !!!
If they only can program PC Games, then they should stop messup things on the PS2...

There is no excuse for lazy-ass programming. Just as ddaryl said, when you have games like MGS2, GT3, ZOE etc showing off what the PS2 can produce in terms of visuals, there should be very little reason a second-gen game produced by a developer with one PS2 game under their belt to be running this choppy.

It`s not like the machine can`t handle the game, sloppy programming is the worst sin a developer can commit. Porting code wholesale from the PC version is typical of lazy, overpaid PC programmers. Volition better stop using YABASIC and learn how to code in asm if they want this game running any better.

man you guys talk about this game like the frame rate is instant death...

when i played the demo i noticed tha there was slowdown, but not the god forsaken hell spawn slowdown you guys are talk about, and im sure they improved the slowdown if not all at least a little, and the multi player, i mean if they leave the game with s/d then imagine how multi player will run, like UT? all framey well i think they have fixed the problem, when they added this feature, its been 6 weeks since i ordered the demo, so they had more than 6 weeks, about 8 or more, to fix this problem, i think you guys expectations are so high now that you have seen MGS2 in action, i can tell you no game will meet those expectations this year like MGS2 did, we got more than we expected, so i think every ones expectations are reallly high for up coming games now, im my opinion, so it has a little slowdown, so what!? im getting this game one day 1 and everyone that didnt cause of the possible slowdown will recieve a review on it from me, so you can find out if it still does or doesnt :)

actually you can custom setup the controls in timesplitters

Some interesting points raised.

My first comment is, isn\'t this the demo that we all know has slowdown already ? And thus theres no need to talk about it ? I mean isn\'t this the preview code IGN got there hands on months ago and commented on the slowdown ?

Secondly I completely agree that slowdown is unaccepatable but i\'ve always preeched that.

Also I do think our expectations are high but without due cause. We have all bought the hype even though some of us wouldn\'t want to admit it, thats why we got the console quickly rather than waited, but after seeing some of the stuff out so far theres no need for dodgee slow down titles.

Im still keeping my fingers crossed but I can see the final release being a flop, although I hope it doesn\'t cause this game could be really good.

Just received mine as well.

Slowdown is not too bad.  It should be better, yes, but it isn\'t all that bad.  It IS just a demo remember.

I am eagerly awaiting this game, and I am glad to see it coming along very well.  It was a little too dark for my tastes, but, yeah... I\'m gonna get it when it comes out.

Again, with the slowdown, several reviewers have talked to THQ about it and they have stated that they will address the issue.

Fear not, this game will be good when it comes out.
Let those who stand for tyranny and injustice fear the hell the United States will unleash upon them.

yeah, the slowdown in minimal, only like in big open spaces and when theres alot of explosions, doesnt ruin the game at all, i dont know what these people are smoking. I love it, i\'m buying it the second it comes out, Good Game!!!
